A. CHARNEY Obituary

CHARNEY, A. Robert Of Newton, MA died peacefully on Saturday, May 6, 2017 in Roslindale at the age of 77. Father of Cheryl Charney of Hawthorne, CA, Jonathan & wife Amy Charney of Chapel Hill, NC, Marc & wife Jenny Charney of Wellesley, MA and Jessica Charney of Oakland, CA; former husband of Lisl Charney of Brookline; brother of Leila Pradell of Newton and uncle of Brenna Pradell-Boyd, Steven and Larry Pradell. Bob was also a proud grandfather of Julia, Elisabeth, Jackson, Ava, Tennyson and Nova and a grand uncle to Zachary. A long time teacher in the Boston school system, Bob was a wordsmith who was sure to beat you at scrabble, loved jazz and the theater and was happiest at the beach or on a boat. Services will be held at Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard St., BROOKLINE on Friday, May 12th at 10:00am, interment to follow at Newton Cemetery. The family will receive visitors after 5:00pm on Friday at the home of Marc Charney. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) or an educational charity of your choice.
