Alan Bond Obituary

BOND, Rev. Alan B. Died Aug. 23, 2009 at his home in Rochester, VT. Born Sept. 4, 1936, the son of C. Lawrence & Barbara (Dailey) Bond; raised at Topsfield, MA; attended The Cambridge School of Weston, MA and graduated from Middlebury College in 1958. Served as Communications Officer in Wahiwa, HI where he met Lois Kelley of Derry, NH. They married in 1961. Alan received his MDiv from Andover-Newton Theological School in 1965 and was ordained into the United Church of Christ in 1966. Served the Rochester Federated Church until 1974; the Scottsdale, AZ Congregational UCC 1974-1987; and the First Congregational UCC of Reading, MA from 1987 until his retirement in 1998. Returned to Rochester where he served as Rochester Town Moderator and as Pastor Emeritus of the Rochester Federated Church. Alan is survived by his wife Lois; daughter Margaret M. Bond of Billerica, MA; son Seth D. Bond and his wife Laura of Scottsdale, AZ; brothers Charles of Jefferson, NH, Nathaniel of Glenburn, ME and Jonathan of Orrs Island, ME; and grandson Chase. He was predeceased by his sister Priscilla Goff. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Vermont Conference United Church of Christ, Mission Activities, 36 North Main St., Randolph, VT 05060. I was sorry to read the death of alan. i was a member of Cong. Church of Reading. Alan made a better person of me. My wife and I led a 4th grade Sunday School for 2 years.,I am now living in Warren n.h. Near my Daughter, but will never forget Alans Service of shadows on Maundy Thursdays. Rest in Peace Alan.

I'm so sorry to hear of Alan's death, Lois. I enjoyed knowing both of you very much--a wonderful man--much too young to go-I'm so sorry. He's in a better place.
