FR. ALBERT DIIANNI S.M.

1933 - 2024

DIIANNI, Fr. Albert, S.M. A priest in the Society of Mary (Marist Fathers and Brothers) died on Thursday, July 11, at the age of 91, at Maristhill Nursing Home in Waltham, MA. He was born in Woburn, MA, on May 12, 1933, to Modesto DiIanni and Marcia Grossi DiIanni. He made his First Profession of Vows as a Marist on Sept. 8, 1953 and ordained a priest in Washington, D.C. on February 6, 1960. Father was a Professor of Philosophy at Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA from 1966 to 1979 (Chair of the Department from 1973 - 1979). He was the Provincial of the Marists' Boston Province from 1979 to 1985. He was a Councilor and Vicar General for the Society of Mary in Rome 1985 - 1994. Before retirement, Fr. DiIanni directed the Third Order of Mary from 1995 to 2020. He was the beloved brother of William D. DiIanni and Robert A. DiIanni; cherished uncle of Linda DiIanni, her husband Michael Murphy of NH, Paul DiIanni, his wife Brittish Miser of Medfield, Michael Madera, his wife Pina of Acton, Peter DiIanni, his wife Leigh Mountford of Wayland, John DiIanni, his wife Kimberly of Stow and Andrew DiIanni of Woburn. Fr. is also survived by his fellow Marists; and many loving great-nieces, nephews, and friends. Fr. DiIanni's Wake will be held in St. Anthony of Padua Church in Woburn on Tuesday, July 16, from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony's at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 17th. He will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery in Winchester, MA.
