Rabbi Goldstein was astute in his views on life and his insight and kindness will be missed by me and my family. Thank you for providing years of thought and guidance to our temple even in retirement. I remember you boldly saying, "Life is a journey and death a destination."

My sincere condolences to his family, Marcia Levine, and Rabbi Emily Lipof, his protege at Ohabei Shalom. His unique voice and powerful deliverance of sermon and prayer will live in my memory. He was my Rabbi during my formative years. I was always in awe of his depth of knowledge and ease of explanation when questions were asked. He loved to teach. My fondest memories as a child in synagogue were of Cantor Zimmer's operatic voice along with Rabbi Goldstein's "fire and brimstone" punctuated sermons. What a voice and projection! What a wonderful combination they were and they made a deep and lasting impression on me. Rabbi Goldstein twice, to my knowledge, gave an explanation of the stained glass panels he designed that are in the Rosenfield Building at Ohabei Shalom. He explained in detail the meaning of each panel and why he chose a particular scene. He gave meaning to those pieces of art. In addition, he did the same with the stained glass in the Montague Chapel. Many people know the story of the red wine he accidentally spilled on a bride's gown. It was the first (and last) time that ever happened in his career. After that, only white wine has been used. Well, my sister, Arlene, was the bride. We'll miss you, Rabbi Goldstein.

Rabbi Goldstein brought tremendous spirit, intellect, wit, debate and personal opinion to his annual talk with the Brotherhood of Temple Ohabei Shalom through his 98th year.
We miss him for so much that he has brought to us all and will notice the absence of his participation at Kol Nidre services in two days.
My heart felt condolences to Rabbi Goldstein's family and to Marcia especially.
