RIP sir. I believe my grandfather served with Al in the 4th Marine Division as a Navy Corpsman. Al's history is very similar to my Grandfathers, Tuffield A. Latour (Tuffy) - died in 1965. I have a picture I would like to send to the family, preferably the son, Gen. Mark Milley (20th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff). I believe this picture includes Mr. Milley (sporting a beard), my Grandfather - Tuffield A. Latour, and four other unknown individuals. My grandfather was a Fleet Marine Force (FMF) Corpsman and trained at Camp Pendleton, California, and Maui, Hawaii. My grandfather served in the Central Pacific as described in Al's obituary. If someone in the family can contact me at [email protected]. I will forward the picture to your family. My brother sent me a group photo he received from my Aunt. I learned all of this by watching in the swearing in of the new Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley. President Trump mentioned his father's service and how he was a Navy Corpsman serving with the 4th Marine Division. I found this history about my grandfather via the archives, muster reports (sent from my brother, SFC Tuffy Latour, Army National Guard, and he mentioned Al as being in the reports as well), the NY historical papers (http://nyshistoricnewspapers.org/) website and through family documents.

Sandy,
So sorry to hear about your father's passing. At least he died knowing that he and your mother left such a beautiful family to carry on the love and the values that were so important to them. This is a legacy that I"m sure gave him great comfort in his final moments on earth.
