DR. ALFRED VERNER PERSSON

PERSSON, Dr. Alfred Verner Age 87, of Wellesley, MA, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024, at the Lahey Hospital in Burlington, his "happy place", where he spent many years of his distinguished career as a vascular surgeon. As a devoted husband, father, grandfather, physician, mentor and lifelong learner and creator, he lived a remarkable life. Al leaves his beloved wife of 66 years, May Susan (Vickers) Persson; children, Tuula Rodgers (Tom), Christine Froehlich (James), Marian Flinchbaugh (Troy) and Ruth Persson; grandchildren, Whit (Katherine Szocik), Ben and Max Froehlich and Anna (Cha Tori) and Erin Flichbaugh; sister, Sally Chillington; eight nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends, including Michael Cummings. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Marian (Wilner) Persson; and his brother, George Persson. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Wellesley Hills Congregational Church, 207 Washington Street, Wellesley, MA, with a reception to follow. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be private. Contributions in Al's memory may be made to Wellesley Hills Congregational Church or the Wellesley Free Library.
