I was a member of the Covenant House Faith Community from 1984-1988. I had heard of Allan; don't remember if I met him but it pains me to know that he is gone, especially that his wife and children will have to go on without him. Thanks for this blog. Anna Foster

My wife and I first met Allan beween 1983-1985 in Manhattan. We prayed, worked, and had some fun times together in Covenant One Community, New York. Allan attended our wedding in Arlington, VA in 1985. His deep devotion to Christ was reflected in the joy of serving God's poor homeless children at Covenant House. Allan was a shining example of selflessness. We received the Eucharist and prayed the rosary together. Allan visted my wife Mary, our children and I at our home in Worcester after Covenant House. You may have seen the pictures of us in the annual christmas card. We are the blessed parents of 10 children. It is a joy to know there are 3 children and a lucky spouse who have the wonderful grace of knowing such a gifted beautiful person as Allan. We did not learn of Allan's death until today. It is today we pray for him, and at daily Mass he will be remembered. We will inform all of our friends from Covenant House to pray for your family.

Dearest Eleanor,
I have been praying continually for you and your beautiful children since I heard the sad news Sunday evening. Although we don't see one another often, my thoughts wander to you on so many occasions. Sabina is now in her third year of college, and is working through her second year as Resident Advisor--the job you modeled so gracefully to me so many years ago. Because you blessed me with your wonderful example of integrity and generosity, I was able to encourage my daughter to go and bless others. Your legacy is far-reaching and permanent, and I thank you for living such an intentional life.

Time and distance will not permit me to be with you physically, but I pray you know I remain with you in spirit, now and in the days ahead.

I love you-
Julianna
