GLICK, Allen M. Age 81, of Umatilla, FL, formally of Framingham and Barnard, VT, died peacefully at home on March 12, 2023. Born to Selig and Lillian (Tagerman) Glick, Allen was raised in Worcester, MA. Allen leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 16 years, Iris C. Glick; his sister, Wendy Glick and her partner, Joseph Orth of West Palm Beach, FL; his aunt, Lenore Tagerman of Boca Raton, FL; his cousins, William Topkin of Connecticut, Susan (Glick) Shaiken and family of New York, William Tagerman and wife, Nancy, Karen (Tagerman) Dom and husband, Charles, and Neil Tagerman and wife, Lauren, and their respective families, all of Massachusetts; his brother-in-law, Walter Randall of Wayland, MA; Iris' nephew, Stephen Randall and wife, Michelle of Umatilla, FL; and Walter Randall and wife, Laurie of MA. He is also survived by Janice Anderson Sage and husband, William; Gwendolyn (Sage) Wissler and husband, Gregory and their children, Madeline and Chase: and Adrienne (Sage) Donohue and her daughters, Vivienne and Catherine, all of Framingham, MA. Allen was predeceased by his sister, Sarajane Glick, in 1960; and his beloved companion of 31 years, Eileen E. Anderson, in 2000. The Glick Family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to each of Allen's caregivers for their professional and compassionate care of Allen in his home. Allen attended Tabor Academy and Clark University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in marketing in 1963. From a young age, he worked with his father, Selig; first, in the family-owned parking garage businesses, and later in a sales and management capacity at his father's automobile dealership Bancroft Motors in Worcester, MA. In 1967, at the age of 26, he earned the honor of being the youngest person to have ever been granted a Chevrolet dealership franchise, leading to the opening of Crown Chevrolet in Framingham, MA. From 1968 -1999, he went on to grow an automobile empire comprised of Chrysler, Mitsubishi, Oldsmobile and Hyundai dealerships in Framingham, MA; Toyota dealerships in Framingham and Wellesley, MA; and a Nissan dealership in Westborough. MA. In 1999, he sold four of his last five dealerships, continuing to serve as President and Treasurer of Glick Nissan in Westborough, MA. Allen greatly appreciated and was humbled by his many loyal employees, who contributed to the success of his business. He held in highest esteem and with gratitude, the business collaboration and personal friendship of Ted Budzyna., General Manager Nice President, for over 50 years. Allen was also a private real estate investor. From the late 1980s until 2003, he served on the boards of several local banks. When asked about the secret to his success, Allen always said "There is no magic to succeeding; you just need to dedicate yourself to succeeding." A deeply religious and caring person, Allen was extremely philanthropic to major charities, the communities in which he lived, and many individuals less fortunate than he. Allen served on the Clark University Board of Trustees for 14 years. At Clark, he established the Lillian and Selig Glick Scholarship Fund in 1973 in honor of his parents, followed by the Allen M Glick Chair in Judaic and Biblical Studies in 1996. Everett Fox PhD, the Allen M. Glick Professor of Judaic and Biblical Studies at Clark has graciously stated "Without Allen's caring and generosity, I could not do the work that I do. I could not do the research and writing that I do, I could not teach the courses that I do." In 2012, Allen established the Dr. William E. Topkin Scholarship Fund in honor of his cousin, a former dean of students at Clark and a Clark trustee emeritus. Allen was honored by Clark with a Distinguished Service Award in 2013. Allen owned Eastleigh Farm in Framingham, MA, from 1981-1999, where he raised Polled Hereford cattle, along with a bevy of other farm animals. He also found great personal joy in horseback riding. He continued to enjoy horses and riding with his wife Iris at their homes in Vermont and Florida. Being surrounded by his family and friends, at one of his farms or at his ocean side home in Maine was always Allen's source of fun times and great pride and joy. Allen's kindness, heartfelt caring, witty sense of humor, and genuine influence will forever be missed. Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 16, at Congregation Beth Israel Synagogue,15 Jamesbury Street. Worcester. Burial service will follow at B'Nai B'rith Cemetery, 55 St. John's Road, Worcester. We have many fond memories of Allen and Eileen here in Vermont and several visits to Maine. We enjoyed several horseback rides with Allen. We were sad to hear of his passing but our very grateful for knowing Allen over the many years. We had many conversations that always had one of Allen's many jokes within the conversation. Thank you for all the wonderful times and laughs and keep on sharing your humor on this next adventure.
