LUCCHESE, Alphonse M. Loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather Alphonse Michael Lucchese, age 88, of Marco Island, FL and Marston's Mills, MA, died peacefully, surrounded by family, in Florida, on April 3, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Joyce Louise (Rader) Lucchese, to whom he was married for 66 years. Al was born and raised in Waltham, MA to Carmello and Emily Lucchese, who immigrated from Aragona, Sicily in 1920; and was the middle son, between his brothers, Joe and James, both now deceased. Al enlisted and served in the U.S. Army, graduated Bentley College (University) and had a successful career in executive leadership in the technology industry. Al established and funded an annual scholarship for student athletes in Waltham, MA, to gain admittance to Bentley as a scholarship athlete. Al was honored by Bentley, receiving an honorary doctorate degree. Al found his greatest success and pride in his role as husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his large family, who he treasured. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Alphonse M. Lucchese, Jr. and his wife, Tracey, Karen M. Curley and her husband, Bill, Gail A. Stabile and her husband, Stephen, Paul R. Lucchese and his wife, Carrie; his nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Al was a fun loving and supportive grandfather; he was adored by his grandchildren, Jessica, Molly and her husband Jon, Alphonse, III, Thomas and his wife, Samantha, Jake and his wife, Ashtyn; Stephanie, Paul, Jr., Grace, Carlos; and great-grandchild, Isla. Having grown up in Waltham, Al enlisted in the Army just after high school, where he met the love of his life, Joyce, at a nightclub doing what they loved to do together, dancing. It was love at first sight; they were married three months later! Upon return from the Army and with the help of the GI Bill, he attended Bentley College. Thirteen years later, Al graduated with a degree in accounting with his four children present. Al's desire for success, innate sales talent and acuity for numbers put him on a path to executive leadership. He successfully led two companies as CEO and gave opportunities to many through his mentorship and expectation of hard work and integrity. Al raised his family in Sudbury, MA before retiring to Cape Cod and Marco Island, FL. He was an avid golfer, runner and had a love of jazz, reading and baseball. He was passionate about cheering on the Cotuit Kettleers Baseball and was often found in the stands. He was a kind soul, always asking what he could do to help others. His generosity propelled many to greatness over the years. He will be remembered for his humility, quick wit and loving spirit. His legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren.
