I have known Alun for more than a decade and sorry to hear of his loss. Alun Jones is a brilliant radiochemist and well known for his contribution in developing sestamibi and technetium chemistry. He will be badly missed by radiopharmacy community.

So sad. I had the pleasure of interacting with Alan Davison and Alun Jones in the mid-80's, at MIT and "across the river", and will forever remember those years with fondness. Alun was so warm and welcoming, scientifically astute and eager to help. He was a gentleman, and will truly be missed. My condolences to his family - the world is now less bright for this loss.

Shocked to learn about Alun from Dr. Fahey's SNMMI column. First time I met him in 1973 in Boston and almost every year at SNMMI annual meetings. My condolences to his family and will miss his warm friendly smile. He will be sorely missed by the Nuclear Medicine community.

I worked for Alun from 1971 to the present, at the Joint Program in Nuclear Medicine at Harvard Medical School. My career in one place would never have happened without Alun's kind mentorship and good humor. He had a keen mind and a young heart, and still does, on a new plane of life.

Alun was a wonderful bloke and one of my best mates for 37 years. He was very modest about his work but defining the chemistry of Technetium with his friend and colleague Alan Davidson was one of the defining moments in the history of nuclear medicine and resulted in their discovery of 99mTc Sestamibi used in millions of patients for heart scans around the world. I will miss him.
