ANAYA TIPNIS Obituary

TIPNIS, Anaya Of Needham Massachusetts, passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the age of 18. Anaya was born to Monica Kachru and Rajeev Tipnis on August 20, 1998 in Framingham, MA. She attended Needham High School where she was an avid debater, member of the National Honor Society, the Student Council, Launch Club, and Girls' Robotics club. While still in school, her entrepreneurial spirit and vision earned her a First Prize at the MIT Launch Program, a NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Award, Young Entrepreneur Award by the Newton/Needham Chamber of Commerce, RIT Innovation and Creativity Book Award, and Class of 2013 TyE Boston Second Place Award. Passionate about everything she did, Anaya sought to understand and learn about the world through her own experiences. Whether she was traveling through Australia and New Zealand, bicycling across the country, singing and composing music on the piano and guitar, writing, playing basketball, interning on a documentary film, learning a new programming language, or just baby-sitting neighborhood kids, she always fully embraced the task before her. Family, friends, relatives and everyone whose life she touched will forever remember her passion, charm, intellect, substance, tenaciousness, empathy, kindness, and love. Anaya is survived by sister Aisha, parents Rajeev and Monica, and grand-parents Motilal and Sheela Kachru. Services & Interment are private. Friends and family are invited to attend a short memorial service at the family residence on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at 139 Webster Street, Needham Heights, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Anaya Tipnis Scholarship Fund.

Rajeev and Monica,
I am very sad to hear of Anaya's passing. She was a great kindhearted kid. She was a delight to have in the carpool van for AMASA. In the few years I drove them I got to know and see them grow and mature into great intelligent young adults. May God bless you all while you go thru this most difficult time.

Dear Rajeev,

Yesterday afternoon, I came to learn the tragic news about your loving daughter Anaya from your Swapna Didi. Since then I have continuously been in a state of sock and grief and I have not been able to gather enough courage to speak to you. I have been a part of your brilliant family right from the days of your respected father Professor C. B. Tipnis who has been one of my lifetime greatest teachers while you were still a little child (1969-1971). After that you again joined my family at Delhi rather closely during your student days as an undergraduate student at DIT Delhi only to eventually go to Massachussets as a graduate student. All through, you have been a loving sweet person with all great qualities that one can think of. Occasionally I have learnt from you about your sweet daughters Anaya and Aisha. I have seen so many nice photographs of Anaya playing around with Aisha and her other friends. It has always given me a great satisfaction and pleasure to learn about the great qualities that Anaya had. She was a very talented bright girl who excelled not only in her studies but in all other areas including music, games, debates, robotics, tutoring and all other extra-curricular activities only to make her parents and other family members and friends proud of her. She had a brilliant personality and was born to excel and excel only all through. An abrupt end to such a brilliance is a tragic loss not only to you and Monica but to all your extended family and friends and especially to her great teachers who taught her all through. I am deeply lost in my chain of thoughts right from the days when you were only a little child at Gwalior where I used to visit your great academic family so often. I am finding it unbelievable to accept that such a lovely person endowed with all the great qualities has left us while still being only a teenager herself. I pray to God to somehow grant you and to all your loved ones the strength to bear the pains, grief and sorrows.....!!! We are fully with you in this time of grief.....!!!

You were a beautiful Child of God. Among the countless incidents we recall, the one that we remember the most is how you so lovingly took Jojo, our German Shepherd into your home, setup a bed for him, played with him, and then made him feel comfortable - while everybody else wanted him to stay out. You had a kind heart and were planted on earth to bloom in heaven. May you rest in peace, and may your parents have the strength to bear your loss.

With lots of Love,

Anurag, Malvika, Agustya & Vigyan

I am so sorry to hear about Anaya's passing. She and I worked together for a summer in the Girls Who Code program, and I was inspired daily by her intelligence, talent, passion and kindness towards everyone around her. I remember not only being awed by how much she knew, but also being amazed at how willing she was to go out of her way to explain things to me when I did not understand. She was loved by all, and a wonderful leader.

My thoughts are with your family at this difficult time.

Sorry for your loss. Being a worker in a home next your house, i feel saddened. Every morning i admired the mother and daughter relationship, as the mum would drive her daughter to Needham High. Its a loss to the neighborhood. She was vibrant and made an impact.

We express our condolences to her mom Monica, who I've met, and her entire family, and all friends. Your daughter was a gem in our eyes.

I met Anaya several years ago at a summer camp, where she lived next to me. We were close during the duration of the camp but drifted apart once it ended. However, she messaged me recently, telling me about how she hoped that we could connect again, and that her cousin was going to attend my school in the fall. She was always very kind and sweet. My condolences to everyone close to her, and I won't forget her.

I met Anaya only one time, at the Hillary Clinton event in November at UNH, where I am currently a student. She was so kind to me and we had a lot of laughs together, even though we had only met that day.
She recently messaged me on Facebook, and told me that she thought I was a lovely and awesome person, and that we would be great friends. I feel the same way about her, we just clicked!
Maya Angelou said, "people wont remember what you said, people won't remember what you did, but they will always remember how you made them feel." Anaya made me feel like a good friend, even when we had just met. I'll always remember her kindness and her good heart.
Sending condolences and love to her family and friends.
Love, Nola
