One year of bitter grief
Does not belie my belief
You tend your plants from above
And roam the land you love
I know that you're not here
I pretend as if you were,
I make meals for us to share
I sit across an empty chair
Some days are filled with sorrow
But I have hope for tomorrow,
I try to sing and shout
To keep reality out
I have not yet acquired
The peace of mind required
To face the certainty
Of life's finality
Closure is a myth, some claim
It fails to alleviate the pain
Deeply rooted in our soul
For the loss of one, not consoled
And never again to behold
Your voice is in my head
I hear the words you said
Life's a gift, do not forsake,
Both joy and sorrow embrace,
Don't allow your heart to break
Missing and loving you,
Your wife, Josephine

Seven months since you have past
Lingering pain still holds fast
Pictures of you everywhere
Reminds me that you are aware
For your gaze says you see all
Of my struggles not to fall
Into that dark and cold space
Devoid of God's warmth and grace
Let me weep for I still yearn
For your touch and deep concern
And our walks with hands entwined
To follow our path throughout time
I miss you
Your loving wife, Josephine

He was the greatest man I ever knew. He was my dad. To me he was flawless. I was always in awe of him. He was poised and prepared. Clean and polished. He was tall and lean. He could cast a perfect fly. In fact fly fishing was the one activity that I witnessed him truly relaxed. His body was fluid with the rod- I would watch in envy as the line would land perfectly flat and the fly would follow and arrive on the water without a ripple.
I pray that he is in the one place that gave him true peace- he´s waist deep in crystal clear icy water with a split bamboo fly rod in his hand. Holding it high with the line screaming off the reel as a salmon jumps in the rushing rapid. Standing tall in the middle of the river with the late afternoon sun lighting up his hazel eyes and big broad smile.
Until we meet again.
May the heavenly river fill you with peace.
Your loving son.

Andrew scattered among tall pines,
Nurtures the earth with love that binds,
Lulled by fragrant winds and warm light,
And romping deer and birds in flight.
Here, we walked not too long ago,
Through summer rain and winter snow,
Wait for me, I won't be long
Ebbing time will set free our song
If not then, then when God wishes,
We'll come home like spawning fishes,
Love in my heart is there for you,
Until then, color my life blue.
