Sister Angela Solling

(Wendy Hope Solling), March 7, 1926 - January 20, 2002. Wendy Hope Solling (Sister Angela), one of Australia's most prolific and respected sculptors, an Anglican nun of the Clare Community at Freeland, UK, and one of the first women to be fully ordained to the Anglican priesthood in Australia, died on January 20th. Sister Angela lived half of the year alternately at the Redbud Springs Community in Brevard, NC, and at the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, MA. She was 75. Sister Angela came to the United States after suffering a series of small strokes in 1999. Since then, she has been a member of the clergy at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Watertown, MA, an artist-in-residence at the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, MA, a member of the Board of Directors of the Free Rein Center for Therapeutic Riding in Brevard, NC, and a spiritual beacon for many diverse projects that call for justice and compassion in our world. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Free Rein Center for Therapeutic Riding, 420 Las Praderas Center, Brevard, NC 28712, or The Spirituality Center at the Community of Santa Teresa in Alice Springs, NT, Australia.
