ANITA EVELYN ROBERTS

ROBERTS, Anita Evelyn (Barickman) Age 86, resident for most of her life in Newton, MA, died on Friday, September 5, 2025, in Providence, RI. She was the daughter of Evelyn Beatrice Hickman & Albert Melvin Barickman. She was born in St. Louis, MO, on November 22, 1938. She was married to George W. Roberts in 1960. She attended TCU in Fort Worth, TX and graduated from two Universities, Simmons in Boston and Lesley in Cambridge MA. She taught English, Reading at ACU Calvert in La Paz, Bolivia and at Warren Junior High and Meadowbrook Junior High in Newton, MA. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents; her brother, Melvin David Barickman; and her nephew, Mark Stephen Barickman. She is survived by her brother, Richard Bruce Barickman (Joan); sons, Jon Kevin Roberts, George Brian Roberts, Julian J. Garcia Roberts; grandson, George W. Roberts; aunt, Gloria Hollandsworth; many nephews and nieces; and her beloved dog, Caroline. Funeral Services were held on September 12, at the First Baptist Church, of Newton Centre, MA and she was Buried in the Newton Cemetery. A published poet, nature lover, teacher of many students and she loved to travel around the world.
