Anthony was my first childhood friend. I have so many fond memories of the two of us playing games etc... he always had a great imagination and friendly demeanor. I always knew that he was special and would contribute intellectual, artistic works for everyone to enjoy. Rest In Peace Dear Anthony. D. R. H.

My condolences to Mrs. Rosemary McLean and the rest of Tony's family. Many fond memories of Tony from BC High and the drama club, but one remains etched in my mind. One day during rehearsals for some musical, Tony asked me to learn a show tune ("Everything's Coming Up Roses") for a skit that he was in. (Otherwise he would have played it himself.) Now, I had taken about 8 or 9 years of piano lessons, classical training, so this should have been easy. It wasn't. Tony, as I recall, had never taken lessons; he was self-taught. I had no sense of rhythm. As the weekend of the show approached, and it wasn't apparent that I'd pull it off, Tony sat me down and played it himself, arms flailing, full of energy, perfectly in rhythm and NOT EVEN LOOKING AT THE KEYS. This last point was particularly unnerving, as I always had to look at the keys. He didn't do it to show me up; he was just trying to demonstrate how it should be done. And all I could think of was, "How did this guy who never took a lesson learn how to play so well?"

I had the pleasure of being Anthony's cousin (yes some called him Tony, but he was Anthony to my family).
He had a kind, caring and generous spirit that made you want to be a part of his experience.
He was flamboyant and frank when he spoke, but never hurtful.
He gave me the best advise when I was 15 yrs old--he said frankly to take a typing class if you want to get anywhere in this world (you have to understand it was 1985 and today it would be called a keyboarding class or a computer applications development class).
Hope he finds peace and comfort and is in the arms of loved ones in a safe haven now.
And putting on a show for our Nana and her friends!
Love,
Ruthanne

I loved to talk theater with Tony anytime, anywhere. His work made his fellow BC High grads proud. His youthful enthusiasm when working on a project -- I remember the process for "Judy Garland" -- was remarkable. The Opera House -- and his great stories -- are part of his legacy. Thanks for everything, Tony.

I was a college intern at Disney Theatricals in NYC around 1999. Since I was from Braintree, Tony made a point to note our connection and make me feel welcome and part of the team, even though I didn't work directly with his projects. And he was absolutely hilarious to have around the office! My condolences to his family and friends.

I am so so sorry to hear this very sad news. Tony was a great light in our family. Gracious and giving, he always made you feel welcome at any gathering and went out of his way to spread joy and laughter throughout a room. He reached out to my daughter Jen in New York and my son Chip in Boston. For that I am very thankful. And I know he was a wonderful son to his mother who was rightly very proud of his great accomplishments.

I have a million memories of Tony, but my fondest is the song he wrote for me about 35 years ago, called "Where Are You Going." I sang it with him accompanying me on the piano, and remember the lyrics to this day. I know that he is at peace and send all my love and prayers to Rose, Teresa, Rosemary, Danny and Walter. Tony was a cherished son and a cherished friend. He was loved by so many and will be missed by so many.

Tony was my first and best high school friend, and my first song-writing partner. I’ve never known anyone whose friendship meant as much to me, or whose encouragement and example did more to shape the entire course of my life. Tony was a hugely gifted, warm, funny and insightful man. He was always “on,” as theater people say, which only meant that he was always giving as much of himself and his talents as he could, while extracting as much joy as possible from each passing moment. I can still hear, and always will, his voice laughing, singing and joking, and still see his face smiling, and his body always in motion. My deepest condolences to the many friends who’ll miss him as much as I will, but most of all to his mother Rose, and his siblings, Danny, Terry, Rosie and Wally.

I remember Tony as a young boy. He was one of my cousins. My Aunt Marion Alberts would take me to Dorchester and Boston to visit Aunt Doris. I'm glad I got to see him at the 80th birthday party in Dorchester. I remember how talented he was even as a child. Full of life and a desire to entertain. Such talent even as a child. And he was a wonderful child. I am so sad for your loss. I lost my brother, Jimmy, at 55 years old just 4 years ago. I understand your loss. Tony and all the family will be in my prayers.

My heart goes out to you, Tony's beloved family. He was one of a kind--too talented, too generous, too funny and dear for one person to be. I think of him at peace with other dear ones who have gone ahead.
