ARLENE E. SYLVESTER

SYLVESTER, Arlene E. (Wishart) 97, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2015, at the Miriam Boyd Palin Hospice House in Wayland, MA. She spent most of her life in Auburndale, the devoted wife of family practitioner, R. Emerson Sylvester, who predeceased her in 1990. Summers were spent at Point Independence, MA on Buzzards Bay. Arlene was born and spent her childhood in Barre, Vermont, one of three daughters of Charles and Allie (Trow) Wishart. She attended Lasell Jr. College in Auburndale, where she studied to be a medical secretary. She is survived by three children and their spouses, Carolyn Sylvester and Douglas Churchill (Durham, NH), Martha Sylvester and Thomas Warren (Amherst, NH), and Rowland and Sue Cronan Sylvester (Marshfield, MA); eleven grandchildren, Todd Enders, Heather Stirling (husband Scott), Craig Churchill (wife Jennifer), Tamsyn Churchill, Hunter Churchill (wife Katelyn). Travis Warren (wife Rene), Kelsey Warren (wife Amy), Tilea Toy (husband Matthew), Amanda Benson (husband Justin). Nathan Sylvester (wife Maggie), Andrea Sylvester; special friend Cadet Nicholas Satwicz and twenty-seven great grandchildren. Arlene is survived by many nieces, nephews and a cousin, also by her college roommate and sister-in-law Myrtle Sylvester Ensor (Brewster, MA). She was predeceased by her two sisters, Barbara Erickson (Windsor, CT.) and Marion Packard (Holden, MA.) and a nephew Peter Packard (Holden, MA). She was a member of the original Lasell Jr. College Board of Corporators and the Alumnea Board of Management, as well as a recipient of the Lasell Medallion. She was Past President of the Auburndale Garden Club, and a volunteer at Newton Wellesley Hospital. Arlene was on the Board of Directors at Camp Billings Ely, Vermont A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, at the United Parish of Auburndale, at 64 Hancock Street. A private graveside burial at the Newton Cemetery will be prior to the service.
