Thinking of Armando, and all of you, at this time - remembering what a generous family he led. I have fond memories of him, his dear wife Mary, and you all. Visiting with the Franck's lately I looked across the street and remembered the Rossi homestead. I hope this finds you all well :)

Mr. Rossi (as he'll always be known to me) was my teacher, confidant and friend both while I was a student at NNHS in the 1970s and when we reconnected later in my adult life. He always made me feel like I was special and genuinely cared about my life and my happiness. During these later years I always made sure to visit him when I came home for the holidays. I already miss those "dates" with him. I feel truly blessed that he called me friend.

Dearest Joe, Mrs. Rossi and and your whole wonderful family, We are so very sorry to hear of your awesome ( absolute GEM of a ) Dad's passing, and are sending you all our very sincerest, deepest sympathies. We send our Love and prayers for Auburndale's ( Newton's & also far & wide!) Finest, favorite, most beloved man and to his beautiful, beloved family.
As the totally unforgettable Soul he is, it took but one look or meeting to LOVE HIM!! He is a true icon, and a great blessing to everyone, directly from Heaven, and has been all his Life. God bless you with Love, Light and Joy for all eternity Mr. "Ernie" Rossi!!
Rarely do we ever find such an incredible man; who gave so generously and endlessly of himself. He always set (Lived!)the BEST example possible on this Earth. He will forever be honored and beloved here on Earth, and "back Home" in Heaven ( where we will surely all meet up again some day!)!
Unquestionably, there is "NO such thing as death" ( Hallelujah and Praise be to the Lord! ), so "Ernie" will always most literally be with you!
Even his photo brings me Joy and makes me smile!! No one could have lived a better, more meaningful, giving Life OR left us with such endless forever blessings via word, deed, example and the family he gave the world!
Surely, we don't "have" a "Soul" because we all ARE a Soul; what we "have" is a physical body ~ a temporary vessel! We LOVE you Armando S. "Ernie" Rossi, and THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts! Your great Light continues( uninterrupted!; to shine, both here and above, until we meet again. Love always & All Ways, the God Love and Bless you all!

Mr. Rossi, I will be forever thankful for all you did for my Grandparents Pietro and Maria Butera and their children who immigrated here from Italy. You are a true dear friend and I recognized all the attributes that your friends have so kindly written here about you early on in my life since we were neighbors. You have made a difference in my life Sir, and I will never forget your gentleness and your love of life and how kindly you always spoke of our family. Thank you from all of us, but especially from Michela and Pasquale Caruso and family. Rest in eternal peace.

To Armando's Family:
I had the honor of getting to know your Dad last summer. I worked at his residence for a brief time. I was struck by his ability to reach out to others and share his passion for poetry and nature with them. He was a lovely man and I feel fortunate to have known him.

Armando was the kind of genuine, decent, friendly, generous, and gentle person we used to believe in and wish more people could be.
He was an example of how to live a good life. He remained youthful, active, and involved as long as he lived. He never stopped caring about life and about the world in which we all live our lives.
He never lost his sense of fun and whimsical enjoyment of silly little things, or sense of appreciation of simple beauty that people most often overlook.
He lived in the present, without expectation of reward for good deeds beyond the sense that he had tried to do something good each day of his life.

Armando! You, who so loved candles, as I do also--who could hold a candle to you?!
June 1, 2013
I first entered Armando Rossi's life several years ago against his will (!). I was introduced to him via his daughter Deborah. I was brought into his home to assist his beloved wife Mary. It was not something he wanted; indeed, he railed against it. My job, as I saw it, was not just to help Mary--it was also to help him know that he was still "the king of the castle". I needed him to be! I needed him to help ME negotiate the labyrinth of their lives in order to better serve them both. I therefore reached out to him in good faith. I was met in kind. From day one he was nothing but a complete gentleman and remained so until the last time we spoke, six days before his passing. I will treasure his memory forever.

Deb and Pat,
John and I are thinking of you both during this difficult time. We love you both and are here if you need anything.
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Mr. Rossi was a business class teacher of mine at Newton High in '66 or '67. I don't remember the class at all...........but I do remember how kind and fatherly Mr. Rossi was. I've been a life long resident of Auburndale and owe a huge gratitude to Mr. Rossi for all the wonderful work he did in the community. I will miss seeing him in the village. He always remembered who I was. Considering how many students he taught in his lifetime, I thought that was amazing. Rest in Peace Mr. Rossi.

I met Armando a few years ago when in Auburndale visiting my twin, Girard Plante. He was hiding the graffiti w/a flower vine on a Melrose building. He always had the fountain in tip top shape. My brother and I look after these small areas now. He was the perfect host as he gave me a tour while visiting in April @ his present living complex. He knew everyone's name! Always a doer we'll be less w/out him. His generation, as my parents, were truly America's 'Greatest Generation'. What else can I say? You were good to my brother and his caretaker/friend, Jenna. They will miss you dearly. May we never forget your quiet way, giving manner and smiling face!

Such a loss I feel at Armando's passing. My writing group friend, my neighbor, the lover of Auburndale, and an activist, a proponent of the rights of the less fortunate, I miss you so much already. Who can I talk to now? Life is less interesting when you are not around anymore.

Armando is the epitome of selflessness.
True to his generation's much-deserved and well-earned moniker, "America's Greatest Generation," Armando gave ceaselessly.
He lacked millions of dollars to hand to his alma mater Boston University or causes dear to his heart and important to his ethical persona, but Armando is best known for GIVING of himself.
To know Armando is to glimpse a wonderful human being blessed with myriad redeeming qualities. He daily shared by DOING and SPEAKING those qualities everywhere he went.
Improving the lives of others simply through sharing his wisdom became his life's duty.
Our society -- indeed our chaotic world -- of too many strangers need MORE Armando Rossi's. Newton benefitted immensely for over the six decades he moved there to start a life for his family and build a career as educator of young minds soon after the end of World War Two.
His beneficence in other areas of the community will aid people of all walks of life far into the future.
Over the past five years, I devoted two stories in my column Simple Times, published in the weekly newspaper the Boston Post-Gazette. I did so because as I daily grew to know more about my grand and great friend Armando, I knew his story must be shared as America daily loses thousands of gems like Armando.
So, I write about Armando in the present tense in this tribute because Armando and his brightly shining spirit shall be with me throughout the rest of my life's journey.
Blessings aplenty to Mary, the love of Armando's life, who aided her the past few years with the gentlest, most patient, and kindest ways, perserverance never-ending, strength and courage.
Witnessing them together, particularly last Monday, the last time I saw or heard Armando, proved to be the truest example of a man who lived his marriage vows exactly as we would hope all do: "In sickness and in health, till death do us part."
Armando lived an exemplary life and lead by example. Thank you eternally, "friend", for sharing your life with me the past several years. You gave me gifts that shall forever keep on giving in simply knowing you.
An angel came my way, though his earthly presence be absent, he shall stay.
