ARTHUR KENNEDY Obituary

KENNEDY, Arthur L. Age 95, of Quincy, died peacefully, Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the John Adams Healthcare Center. Arthur was born in Brockton to the late Roy and Mary (Buttermore) Kennedy. He was raised in Bridgewater and was a graduate of Coyle High School and Boston College, Class of 1942. He had lived in Quincy for over forty years. He was employed as a personnel manager in the telephone industry. He began his career with the New England Telephone Company and retired from Nynex after over thirty years of service with most of his time in the Lynn office. Arthur was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a longtime active member of the Quincy Council on Aging and was an avid golfer. Arthur was devoted to his Catholic faith and was a proud member of Saint John the Baptist Church in Quincy. Most of all, he was dedicated to his family and especially to his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandson. Beloved husband for thirty-eight years of Marilyn C. (Chapin) Kennedy. Devoted father of Marie Jackson and her husband Joseph of Skowhegan, ME, Diane Callahan and her husband Albert of Canton, Joyce Buckley and her husband George of West Yarmouth, Claire Campo and her husband Joseph of Englewood, FL, Arthur Kennedy and his wife Debra of Pembroke, Joan Allen and her late husband Steven of Englewood, FL, the late Mark Kennedy and Nelda Crawford of FL. He was pre-deceased by his former wife and mother of his children, Marie (Kane) Kennedy. Cherished grandfather of eighteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Brother of the late Gordon Kennedy. Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, QUINCY, Thursday, December 21st at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m. Interment with Military Honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
