To the McGovern family,
Please accept our condolences. My husband and I met Arthur at the subway sandwich shop that we owned on Hancock Bridge. He stopped in every morning on his way to work, to pick up his turkey sandwich for lunch. He would stay and talk with us for an hour. Every now and then he would eat a cookie with us, but not often because he was watching his weight. The chats we had with Arthur ranged from sports, to family. When we sold our subway, Arthur, truly was a customer (friend) that we missed. Every now and then we would stop at the clinic and drop off a note just to say hi. When I stopped in today to see if I could catch him there, I was shocked and saddened by the news of his passing. May it comfort you to know, Arthur touched our lives like a ray of sunshine. We will never forget him. Truly, a wonderful man, may he rest in peace.

Bill and I send our heartfelt condolences and blessings to all of Arthur's family . I Knew Arthur, Sheila( attended her State House installation when she was sworn in as Judge) and Philip since fun-packed childhood summers at Point Shirley . Art was also a pal to my brother Kevin - now deceased . I held loving memories in my heart and highest esteem for entire family. Arthur was a dear friend over my best years in WInthrop. He attended me at one of my children's births...which bonded us forever. Rest in peace Arthur!

My deepest sympathy to all of you, There are no words to express my sorrow..he was my neighbor, my doctor and always my friend and always a little part of my heart. Seeing
him happy in Cape Coral made me very happy. He brought so much to all who knew him, he leaves so much to remember.

Dear Mark, Scott, Sean, and Dacey,
I am so saddened to hear that your dad, Dr. McGovern has passed. The only reason I am alive to write this is because of Dr. McGovern's expertise, skill, and compassion. In 1978 I was having an ectopic pregnancy and didn't know it. Dr. McGovern saved my life and became my OB/GYN doc. He also delivered my miracle baby girl 9 years later. Believe it or not I found myself in another situation and I remember Dr. McGovern telling me not to worry, that he would let me know when it was time to worry. I will always hold a special place in my heart for him as a doctor and a friend.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I know that the love you shared as a family will never die. Godspeed Dr. McGovern, you will be missed deeply by so many people.
Heavens gain is our earthly loss.

We were so fortunate to have Dr. McGovern in our lives. Not only was he a great doctor who sincerely cared for his patients but an amazing human being who really cared for everyone around him. We were blessed when Dr. McGovern and Fran touched our lives.

To the McGovern family,
Please accept my sympathy in the loss of your Dad and Husband. I knew him, Philip and Sheila both personally and professionally. Your grandfather delivered me and your father took care of me when I delivered my daughter. He was so proud as she was a premie only 2 lbs. Today she is 32 happy and healthy because of him. I am a Cambridge girl and worked with both him and Philip at Central Hospital and Mt Auburn.

"Uncle Arthur", you are going to missed by this family so much! You helped bring my first daughter into this world and I couldn't have been happier to have you be part of that wonderful moment. Mark, Scott, Sean and Dacey, my thoughts and prayers are with you in the loss of your father. The happiest days in my nursing career were working with your Dad. He became a good friend, I learned so much from him, we shared and supported each other in the ups and downs of our lives. He was a kind and respectful man, his patients loved him, because he was always there for them as well for his family and mine.
He will be missed.
