BLANCHE SPITZ Obituary

SPITZ, Blanche D. (Morawski) of Reading, MA, formerly of South Boston, MA, passed away peacefully at the age of 96, on December 11, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert G. Spitz. Loving mother of Jerry and Linda Spitz of South Yarmouth, Betty and Steve Manganiello of Stoneham, Ron and Jody Spitz of Quincy, Paul and Karen Spitz of Hanover, and Patti and Jim Lyons of Reading. Grandmother to Cheryl Kelley, Sharon and Steve LaForest, Kevin and Kelly Spitz, Ryan and Justene Spitz, Lauren and Joel Stoorza, Amy, and Matthew Manganiello, Jonathan, Rachel, and Stephanie Spitz, Cory, and Savanna Lyons. Great-grandmother to Lindsey, and Owen Kelley, Alison, and Bryce LaForest, Michael Spitz, Jackson, Weston, and Kinsley Spitz, Emily, and Evan Stoorza. Born in 1922, Blanche was raised in Dorchester, MA where she lived with her parents, Joseph and Michalina Morawski, along with her siblings, Bernie, Ziggy, and Judy. In 1942, she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Al Spitz. They moved to South Boston where they raised their five children, Jerry, Betty, Ron, Paul, and Patti. She spent more than 45 years in South Boston before relocating to Reading 19 years ago to be with family. Blanche was a dedicated and hard worker. She worked in the food service and catering industry for many years, and was a deposition proofreader, before fully retiring at the age of 92. Back in the day, she enjoyed singing and dancing and later bingo, cribbage and crocheting. Blanche was very proud of her family and loved holidays and family get-togethers. As "Nana" she enjoyed spending time with her 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and never missed a chance to cheer them on at school performances, sports activities, recitals, and graduations. As the core of the family, she will be sadly missed by all. The Spitz Family would like to extend a warm and sincere thank you to the caring staff of the Bear Hill Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Stoneham, MA. Visiting hours in the John J. O'Connor & Son Funeral Home, 740 Adams St., (near Gallivan Blvd.), DORCHESTER, Thursday, 4:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass in St. Monica's Church, South Boston, Friday, December 14, at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Psalm 90:10 says that the days of our years are 70 years, And if because of special mightiness they are 80 years.
May the memories of the wonderful times you shared together bring a smile and joy in your heart.
