Carl MATTSON Obituary

MATTSON, Carl "Buddy" Age 72, was taken from his family and friends unexpectedly on November 29, 2022, in the Marshfield home he shared with his wife, Vicki. Buddy was raised and educated in Weymouth, he graduated from Weymouth Vocational High School in 1971.

After high school, he started with Pneumatic Scale in Quincy, where he worked for over 20 years, and then retired from Russ Electric in Hingham after many years. Bud was a hard worker who loved staying busy, so alongside his careers, he also loved working at various Home Depots (Quincy, Rockland, and Plymouth locations) using his limitless "DIY" knowledge, helping people fix anything they needed. He always said he was a jack of all trades, and a Master of none."

Buddy married his beloved wife and best friend, Vicki, in 1973. They met at the age of 15 and have been together ever since. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this upcoming year. After marrying Vicki, they started a family in Brockton and then soon settled in Marshfield where they have created so many fond memories together. Buddy and Vicki lived their lives well and full, never turning down an opportunity for adventure including camping in Maine or going to Disney with the whole family. They could often be seen together at various casinos with Buddy always touting (whether it be true or not) how he had won more than Vicki, and had thus escaped with money in his pocket!

Buddy was a rarity in the fact that he often proclaimed that he has "never had a bad day" and would always be smiling while connecting and improving the lives around him. He will be longingly missed by his family and friends for his joyous and happy nature. For the past year and half, he quietly and bravely battled trachea cancer. Through his positive attitude he tackled it straight on and was beating it. He was healthy and carefree in his final days.

Buddy was predeceased by his parents, Russell G. and Elsa K. (Carlson) Mattson; and his brother, Edward Mattson. He is survived by his children, Kristin Robinson and her husband Bill of Rockland, and Jeffrey Mattson of AZ; his grandchildren, Billy, Vivian, and Alanah; and his siblings, Paul Mattson and his partner Brett, and Chuck Mattson and his wife Donna. Bud is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visitation for Vicky and Carl "Buddy" Mattson on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, from 4-8 pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) WEYMOUTH, MA. Friends will gather in Old South Union Church located at 25 Columbian St. S. Weymouth, MA 02190, on Thursday morning, December 8 for a Funeral Service that will begin promptly at 10 am. Vicki and Carl will be interred together at a later date.
