HICKEY, Carol A. (Richard) Age 71, of Dedham passed peacefully on January 7, 2022, surrounded by the love of her friends and family after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Beloved wife of 50 years to her high school sweetheart, Edward Hickey; loving mother of Scott Hickey and his former wife Sarah of Franklin, Brad Hickey and his wife Deborah of Walpole, and Sean Hickey and his former wife Kathleen of Canton; adoring Nana to Olivia, Rachel, Ryan, Charlotte, Tatum and Cameron Hickey; sister of Denise Richard of Walpole, Pauline (Richard) Skelton of Boston, Kristine Richard of Boston, Edmond Richard of Cambridge, and the late William Richard of Dedham; eldest daughter of the late William Richard of Boston and Kathleen (O'Brien) Richard of Boston. Born and raised in Jamaica Plain, Carol was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School. Carol and Ed settled in Dedham, where they operated O'Bies Variety store in East Dedham with their boys for 15 years. A true 80's hockey mom, she spent countless hours at rinks and fields supporting her boys and their friends. She was also a longtime employee of Boston College. Carol bowled for many years with the Jamaica Plain Bowling League and loved organizing the annual beach and bowling trip to Cape Cod. Carol also organized many bus trips to NYC to see her favorite show, the Radio City Rockettes and piloted many girls' trips to the family condo in Florida with her mom, aunts, and friends. She loved her town and spent many days delivering Meals on Wheels in Dedham and was a longtime volunteer and supporter for the Dedham High Booster Club. A friend to all, Carol was known for her kindness and devotion to her family, friends, and community. Her family are grateful for the loving care she received for years from the Julia Ruth House in Westwood and The Linden at Dedham. Visiting Hours will be held at the George F. To Carol's Family,
I had the opportunity to meet Carol when she worked at Boston College. I was constantly asking her advise when I was a guidance counselor at Cathedral High School. We became quite friendly and I loved her stories. It was obvious how she loved her family and extended that love to others. I am sure she walked into the Kingdom of God with no waiting.

Dear Ed and Family,
I'm so sorry for your loss. I had the opportunity to be introduced to Carol from the bowling league in Norwood. Thinking of you all.
