She was also the first woman board member of the Scituate Beach Association, serving as Treasurer. She enjoyed friends, travel, hot fudge sundaes, and weekly yard sales.

Survivors include her loving children, John "Ted" (Lei) Mahoney of Bridgewater, MA, Gail (James) McKenna of North Attleboro, MA, Brenda (Rick) Willard of Scituate, MA, Timothy (Kathy) Mahoney of Kensington, NH; sister-in-law, Beverly Hartford of Newton, MA; grandchildren John "Jay" (Katherine) Mahoney, Laura Mahoney, Jacqueline (Zachary) Secor, Alexander (Julianne) McKenna, Christopher (Carina) Mingolla, Robert (Christie) Mingolla, Ericka Willard, Kimberly (Joe) Fogg, and John, Madeline, and Michael Mahoney. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 50 years, John T. Mahoney in 2005; and brothers, Walter (Anne) Hartford Jr., Richard Hartford and Kenneth Hartford.

My deepest sympathies to the Mahoney Family. I knew Carol from Scituate CC. You could say I was on the receiving end of her mentoring. She was patient, kind and welcoming. Carol always had a smile and I don't think she ever met a stranger. I would await her return to Scituate from Naples every spring. I will sorely miss her presence in Scituate. She exemplified the "Greatest Generation."

Ted and Family - We are sorry for your loss. Your mom was funny and vibrant the few times we spent together. Hopefully she is watching her beloved Patriots from above.

Ted, Gail, Brenda and Tim, I was so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. My parents and siblings and I had so much fun with you and your parents in West Roxbury and Scituate. Lots of laughter and happy memories. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

Mrs. Mahoney was always a kind and vibrant presence on Fernwood Road, WR. What I remember about her was that she treated a kid like a person. What put me in awe of her was the time we were playing with a football in the street. She came out, took off her shoe and punted the ball high into the air. I couldn't believe a ball could go that high, that a bare foot would not be broken by such a feat or that a mother would/could do that! Condolences to the Mahoneys but be comforted by the memories of your mother/grandmother/greatgrandmother.

To the Mahoney Family:

Please accept my deepest sympathies.

I have such fond memories of your mom and dad, as we all grew up and the wonderful summer memories of Scituate. The Beach Association provided many of those memorable moments.

You are in my thoughts and prayer.

Sincerely,

Michael Sullivan

I will always remember the good times that Carol & Jack and Kenny and I had over the years. The bargains we made at yard sales always make me smile. I will miss you Carol. You were a wonderful sister-in-law and will be missed by all. Love you always Beverly
