Clare Mullen Obituary

A resident of Sudbury for the past 39 years, died unexpectedly Monday morning, February 18, 2008 at Emerson Hospital, Concord, Massachusetts following an illness of two days. She was 73 and the wife of Patrick J. Mullen, Jr. for forty years. Mrs. Mullen was born in Boston, the daughter of the late William J. and Mary T. (Sullivan) Cunningham. She attended Boston Public Schools and received a Bachelor of Education Degree and Masters in Guidance from Boston College School of Education. Mrs. Mullen taught school in Revere and Stoughton and was a Guidance Councilor at Waltham High School. She also taught in Special Education at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School for 15 years, retiring in 2000. Mrs. Mullen's interests were in her grandchildren, reading and traveling. In addition to her husband, Patrick, she leaves her three sons and their families: Michael P. Mullen; his wife, Michele, and their children, Ethan P. and Jordan Mullen of Maynard; Christopher W. Mullen; his wife, Tricia of Allston and Kevin J. Mullen, his wife, Shannon Materka, and their children, Trevor, J. Colin and Zachary R. Mullen. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 22, at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady Of Fatima Church, 160 Concord Rd., Sudbury. The family of Mrs. Mullen will receive relatives and friends at a memorial visitation Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Duckett-J.S.Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Rd., SUDBURY. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Goodnow Library, 21 Concord Rd., Sudbury, MA 01776 or EMS of Emerson Hospital, 133 ORNAC, Concord, MA 01742.
