COREY NELSON Obituary

NELSON, Corey Templeton Of Western Springs, IL, passed away on December 20, 2019, after a 7-year battle with Frontal Temporal Dementia (FTD). He was 50 years old.

Corey, born September 7, 1969, grew up in Natick, MA, the "Home of Champions." He graduated from Natick High School in 1987 as a multi-sport athlete on the Redmen football and basketball teams. Following in the footsteps of many aunts, uncles, grandparents, and great-grandparents, he attended the University of New Hampshire. At UNH, he was an intramural all-star and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1991. He subsequently graduated from the Franklin W. Olin school at Babson College with a Master of Business Administration in 1999.

Corey spent over 20 years managing Sales and Marketing teams, including earning multiple top performer and revenue growth awards, with Thermo Fisher Scientific, Sanford Corporation, TimeMed, Precision Dynamics, and Haemonetics. His employment took him from Southern NH to Chicago, IL and San Francisco, CA.

Corey grew up spending his summers on Cape Cod with his grandparents, parents, brothers, cousins, aunts, and uncles in Wenaumet Bluffs, Pocasset. He could often be found competing in neighborhood games of killer croquet and working at the Chart Room Restaurant, making lobster salad sandwiches, which were always much bigger for family and friends.

After moving to Western Springs, IL, he would return with his family each summer to reconnect with family, cousins, nieces, nephews and high school, college, and Cape Cod friends. He loved spending days with his family at Wood Neck Beach in Falmouth, and celebrating with them at the Chart Room and Lobster Trap restaurants, where he was always open to a final final.

He is survived by his wife Amy and the loves of his life, daughter Caroline Price (19), Cade Pettee (16), and Dylan Thomas (14), all of Western Springs, IL; his mother and father Peter and Cynthia of Monument Beach, MA, brothers Derrick of Marshfield, MA, and Brett of Niceville, FL; as well as 5 nieces and nephews.

An east coast Memorial and Celebration will be held this Spring on Cape Cod.

We loved Corey from the day we met as he was a very special guy. Even tho we were only long time family friends;
we were honored that he called us "Aunt Jan and Uncle Bill",just as he and Amy's beautiful children do today. Our special memories of time spent with Corey will never fade. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I remember Corey's bright, positive, enthusiast energy from many summers in Pocasset. I was sad when I heard that he had become sick. It was very difficult to imagine because I recall him as being such a quick minded soul. My thoughts are with you and your family as you adapt to no longer having him physically there. My thoughts are with you.

Dear Pete, Cynthia and family, We are so sorry to hear the news of Corey's passing. But, we live with very fond memories of the Nelson's as our neighbors at Wenaumet Bluffs. The Nelson boys were always the champions of respect and good nature. We remember the last visit by Corey as he took a 45 minute shower in the Horne''s outdoor shower. Our deepest sympathy is with you and may Corey rest well in the Lord's arms. May God Bless the Nelsons. Bob and Sharon Horne
