DAN DUNN Obituary

DUNN, Dan T. Dan Terrill Dunn, 70, of Duxbury, passed away on February 28, 2018. Born in 1947 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina and raised in Ashland, Kentucky, Dan was the son of the late Dan T. Dunn, Sr. and Sarah McKenzie Dunn. He was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Washington and Lee University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in commerce in 1969. He attended the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia, from which he received both an M.B.A. (1971) and D.B.A. (1976). In 1975, Dan joined the faculty of Northeastern University where he was an associate professor of business administration in the D'Amore-McKim School of Business until his retirement in 2014. For many years, he chaired the marketing department, and was a beloved professor throughout his tenure. He also taught at Harvard Extension School through its Certificate of Special Studies in Administration and Management program, receiving the JoAnne Fussa Distinguished Teaching Award in recognition of the energy and expertise he brought to the classroom. During his academic career, he did research and taught in international business programs in Lausanne, Switzerland; Athens, Greece; and Reims, France. Dan was a longtime member of the Duxbury Yacht Club, never missing an opportunity to take his Grady-White out on Duxbury Bay to enjoy a summer evening with friends and family. Dan is survived by his wife, Laura Walker Dunn, of Duxbury, Massachusetts; his son, Daniel Walker Dunn, of Dallas, Texas; his daughter, Sarah Dunn Davis, her husband, Justin Davis, and their daughter, McKenzie Dunn Davis, of Beverly Farms, Massachusetts; his sister, Sallie Dunn Bear, and her husband, Jim Bear, of Hudson, Ohio; and numerous nieces, a nephew, and many devoted friends. A service honoring Dan's life will be held on Saturday, March 10 at 10:30 am at Pilgrim Church of Duxbury, UCC, 404 Washington Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Duxbury Bay Maritime School, Dan Dunn Memorial Fund.

I'm so sad to learn of Dan's passing. He was a favorite professor at NU. His wit was alwayswelcome as class became sleepy after lunch. We ended up writing an article together, and his observations about tech life were hilarious and even inspirational. Sincere condolences.
