I will miss you so very much. You were a great father and always there for all us kids. I will never forget the big huge hug you gave me when I left home to begin my own life with your first grandson and then first grandaughter. You were so good to them. I am so glad that Devan is old enough to remember his grandpa. He once told his kindergarten teacher around St. Patrick's Day that he thought his grandpa might be a leprachaun! You could be so silly at times and made all your grandchildren smile. Your memory will live on. It is so hard to know that when I go over to the house, you will not be in your recliner anymore. I love you so much.

For my Grampa. The Irish-accented root that first gave life to the family he has created with my lovely Gramma here in this country. I have always been so proud to have my Irish heritage in my body and soul, and I owe it to the feats of my Grampa and Gramma coming here and building this beautiful, lively family that is this Galvin clan - my aunts, my uncles, and my cousins. My Grampa is burned into my memory forever with such strong joy and laughter. His Irish eyes always smiling and laughing in my memory. As a child growing up in the suburbs of Boston, I behold memories with my Grandpa that make me laugh to this day, but used to scare me into eating my vegetables. Grampa would tell my brother and I we need to finish the food on our plate, otherwise he would turn into the Leprechaun he actually was, and I think he said he would eat us! I remember finishing my vegetables with wide eyes watching him as he stuck out his teeth and wiggled them between his lips as if to show us he had some Leprechaun magic powers, and Gramma laughed knowing it was just his fake teeth! "DOWN THE HATCH!", he would say to us, and I never really understood what the hatch was, I just knew he meant eat your vegetables or I am gonna get you! It worked.
I remember my Grampa working on the shed he built in the back yard every summer, and thinking what a big, strong Grampa I had. I remember him watching the news at our Monday Night Dinners, and the whole family joyfully getting together to spend time with each other and live in love. What a great time those days were. I remember Thanksgiving, Gramma cooking a million dishes in the kitchen, while Grampa relaxed quietly in his recliner watching the game with all the guys of the family. Poor Gramma was sweating bullets in the kitchen, heating plates in the oven, finishing up the turkey and stuffing, heating up the corn, mashing potatoes with my aunts and my mom, while Grampa sat back and enjoyed the peace he had in his chair. Same goes for Christmas! I'll forever have the image of my Grampa sitting peacefully in that worn-in, brown recliner, from the time I was a small child playing on his floor beneath the Christmas tree, to these past years when I brought my son to meet his Irish Great Grampa. I love him so much, and always loves his observant, and happy demeanor, and I know his energy and presence will be greatly missed by everyone who know him. We love you Grampa, and I know you can hear and feel all of us gathered here for you. I am sure Heaven has a special place for men like you.

Dear Mrs. Galvin, Tim, Elizabeth, John, Dan, Eileen, and Joanne,

I have so many fond memories of times spent in Dorchester and then again in Randolph. Visiting Randolph over the summer and coming down Rte 28 and thinking wow, these people live in the rich section of town because of the chandeler at the Chateau de Ville! Then not being able to sleep while I was in Randolph because it was too quite! But most of all your help with my families move out of Dorchester and into our own home in Randolph , 1 Street over! Time may have past but we always remember our friends, please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Sincerely,
Christine Shaw
