DAVID ABATE Obituary

ABATE, David G. Age 70, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on March 24, 2025, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House. He was the devoted husband of Tamra (Willis) Abate, with whom he would have celebrated 40 years of marriage this September. Born on December 4, 1954, in Everett, David was the son of the late Elvino and Rose (DiPerri) Abate. He grew up in Everett, East Boston and Reading, ultimately graduating from Reading High School. David had a deep passion for life and a love for the simple joys it offered. An avid golfer, he found great pleasure on the greens. He enjoyed fine dining, especially in the company of his beloved wife and was a devoted fan of all Boston sports teams. He also had a love for poker, always enjoying the challenge and camaraderie the game brought. His professional career was diverse and fulfilling. He worked in the food industry, managed several area restaurants and owned his own canteen truck, DTA Catering, serving the Medford and Malden areas, among others. He also had a unique career in the film industry, working as a set dresser on films in and around the Boston area, before transitioning to craft services in film production. After retiring, David found joy as an Uber driver, relishing the opportunity to meet new people and share stories along the road. David had a special love for his dogs. He was predeceased by his beloved dogs, Buddy and Bella and cherished his grandpups, Scout and Sadie, who continue to bring joy to his family. In addition to his wife, Tamra; David is survived by his daughter, Allison Falanga, and her husband, Anthony, of Pelham, NH; his brothers, Dennis Abate of Tewksbury, MA and Alan Abate and his wife, Donna, of Methuen, MA; his sisters-in-law, Vivian Abate of Reading, Holly Delphia of South Hadley, MA, Kelly Williams and her husband, George, of North Carolina and Erin Duffy and her husband, Jeffrey, of Chicopee, MA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, along with many dear friends. David was predeceased by his brother, Richard Abate; and his brothers-in-law, Michael Willis and Kenneth Delphia. Visiting Hours: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a Celebration of his Life on May 10, 2025, at 1pm, at the Fairways at Woburn Country Club, 5 Country Club Rd., Woburn, MA 01801. Remembering all the fun we had playing 1/2 ball, football and anything else in the middle of the street in East Boston. We had a lot of fun back then. We not only cousins but friends too. May you rest without any pain and suffering. Say hi to all the DiPerri's for us. Love, Cheryl
