93, of Peabody and formerly Danvers. Husband of the late Louise (Bond) Demeter. Father of, Steven and his wife Marjorie Demeter of Manchester, MA, Anne (Krapish) Demeter of Danvers, and Andrew Demeter and his wife Jeffy Demeter of Topsfield.Also leaving eight grandchildren. He leaves Barbara Crowley of Peabody, who was his great friend, daily companion and beloved by the entire family. David was born in Portland, Oregon, the great grandson of pioneers. He was a graduate of Willamette University. As a naval officer in the Pacific, he was the recipient of several decorations, including the Purple Heart, for injuries sustained in the sinking of his ship by a Kamikaze attack during the recapture of the Philippines. In 1945, he married Ensign Louise Bond of Everett. They enjoyed 54 wonderful years of marriage. David retired as President of Bond Brothers, Inc. He also served as a Trustee of Wentworth University. He was well loved by his family, as he was all that a man, husband, father and grandfather could be. A wake will be held on Sat., February 16, 2013 at Mackey Funeral Home, 22 Conant St., DANVERS from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, David and Louise were supporters of SmileTrain.org (1-800-932-9541) whose dedicated surgeons and nurses with God's help correct facial deformities of children around the globe. They also supported the Danvers Food Pantry, P.O. Box 2076, Danvers, 01923.
