Dear Donovan Family,
DD was a fabulous man! I feel so lucky that he was best friends with my parent Bunny and Pablo. They always managed to have a few good laughs together over the years. Cherish the memories as they will keep you strong and deepen the knowledge that you were so lucky to have such an unbelievably great dad, husband, father and friend in your life. XO

When I first met Paul, I learned from him that Dave was sick and wondered if I would ever meet him. I did. Then, when we learned we were pregnant, we hoped that he would persevere through his illness long enough to meet his new grand son. He did. Then we wondered if he would be present in our sons life. He was. He was present in all of our lives and even though I only knew Dave for 5 short years of his long and spirited life, I miss him dearly. I miss his stop overs (they were quick but genuine) and I miss his laugh and his smile. I miss the way he would address my son, "Matty me boy!" said with an Irish accent. I think its fair to say that he left an ever positive impression on peoples lives, especially his loved ones and that is the meaning of life, in my mind.

Dave was a joyful man with a-matter-of-fact sense of humor and a big heart He always made me like a part of the family, he loved unconditionally and told it like it is. I will miss his sarcastic wit and honest pulls-no-punches outlook on life most of all. My deepest condolences to the entire Donovan family, may the grace of God give you peace as you deal with the loss of such a big part of your lives. Love you xoxo

We are all so sorry to hear about Dave's passing and our hearts go out to his loving family, especially Connie. Dave was a good friend, a great neighbor and a wonderful person. We will miss seeing him behind the wheel of his car, off to another adventure in Old Town! He never failed to stop to say hello and to make our day better with a funny story or a kind word! We will miss him but never forget him. Much love from all of the Kelleys on Briar Lane.

He was a tremendous father. Virtually everything he did, he did for his family. As life progressed he became my best friend, someone I would watch football games with, ask advice of and confide in. My heart is broken at his passing and I will miss him every day the rest of my life.

what can I say about the original DD that hasn't been said by family & friends. growing up as best friends w his oldest son Dunna I remember our times w his Dad at preston beach with our crew (johnny, harold, grossy, lordy, digi & others) like it was yesterday. we would park at DD's house, eat breakfast , go to preston beach play stick ball or touch football then go to Harold's pool then my house for wiffle ball then seaside for hoops. at each & every turn our parents were always there for us. DD was one of the ones we all looked up to- he was a just a super guy who always gave us great guidance and understood our "spirited and somewhat mischievous" group. He will be missed but never forgotten. my prayers to Mrs. D & the family- love you all.

It was always fun to see Uncle Dave at family events. He would always be there with my other Uncles, like a family "rat pack" making jokes and comments on the side, cracking us up. Rest in peace Uncle Dave.
