DENNIS SMITH

1964 - 2025

SMITH, Dennis Dennis P. Smith was sent to his eternal home on January 19, 2025, after a brief battle with acute renal failure. He was only 60 years old and his family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. He leaves his wife of 24 years, Stephani (Brandt) Smith; his siblings, Ralph Smith, Jr. and his wife, Moira, Edward Smith and his wife, Karen, Steven Smith and his wife, Cathy, Anne Palmariello and her husband, Joseph and Pattye Chines and her husband, Fran; along with many beloved nieces, nephews and grand-niblings. He was predeceased by his brothers, Kevin Smith and survived by his wife, Mona (Oddo) Smith and Brian Smith. Dennis was born in Brighton, MA, son of the late Ann (Liston) and Ralph Smith, Sr. His roots were in Stoneham, where he was a graduate of Stoneham High School. Dennis earned his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Salem State College and embarked on a career in software engineering, featuring more than 23 years at State Street Corporation, most recently as Platform Owner within ETF Services. Away from work, he and his wife, Stephani, traveled the world together, sharing their love of history and food. Dennis had a passion for SF/Fantasy genre, anime and cherished his long-time gaming group, including Brad Munn, Curt Kremer, Rich Pieri and Jon Delano. Dennis was a proud cat-dad to many lucky cats and leaves behind Aliera, Imriel, Zerika, Tazendra and Telnan. All are welcome to gather with Dennis's family and friends on Friday, January 31, from 4-7pm, at Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St., NORTH GRAFTON, MA 01536. A Remembrance Service will be held on Imbolc, Saturday, February 1, at 5pm, in the funeral home.
