DEREK T. THRASHER

THRASHER, Derek T. Of Duxbury, passed away on September 6, 2021 at the age of 33. He was the cherished son of Scott C. and Maureen J. (Simkins) Thrasher; brother of Christopher Thrasher and the late Cameron Thrasher; and grandson of the late Nathaniel and Doris Simkins and Thomas and Patricia Thrasher. Derek was a 2006 graduate of Duxbury High School where he was active in sports, and went on to graduate from Johnson and Wales College in 2010 with a BS in Entrepreneurship. He was also a certified EMT. Derek became a skilled carpenter working with his dad and his brothers. He was also an expert finish cut man. He had a passion for cooking and planned on opening a food truck with his brother Chris. The name was going to be "The Dog Pound!" One of Derek's greatest passions was music. He played guitar, bass, keyboard and drums and loved to sing. He also loved sports including boating, fishing, golf and lacrosse, and was an enthusiastic Patriots and Celtics fan. Derek was a gentleman with a great heart. He was popular and made friends everywhere with a laugh and a smile that was contagious, and could always say the right thing to brighten ones day. He lit up the room when he entered and had a special nickname for all of his friends. Derek was a mentor to many young kids, all of whom called him Uncle D. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street, MARSHFIELD. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 10:00a.m. in the First Parish Church, 842 Tremont Street in Duxbury.
