HIGGINS, Donna Marie (Phillips) Of Brighton, passed away on May 19, 2023. Donna was born on November 23, 1944, to Edward and Mary Phillips in Brighton, MA. Although she lived in many places, she always considered Brighton her home and was the place she connected to the most. She attended high school at Holy Cross Academy and upon graduation applied and was accepted into the Boston College School of Nursing. In 1966, she graduated with her nursing degree and followed her passion of caring for people for over 50 years. While attending Boston College, she met her future husband Daniel J. Higgins, married on May 4, 1968. A devoted and loving wife to Danny, they spent 55 years of dedication and love for each other. Out of this love, Donna was blessed with three loving sons. A devoted mother to Sean, Patrick, and Ryan, she instilled her values of love of family, hard work, and overcoming obstacles in life. Her sons also provided her the biggest joys of her life, her 5 grandchildren. Connor, son of Patrick and Margaretann; Maeve and Colin, daughter and son of Sean and Tara; and Charlie and Sammy, sons of Ryan and Jessica. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and brought a smile to her face every time they were together. Donna's love of family came from her parents, Ed and Mary Phillips, and was shared with her loving siblings. She was a loving and caring sister to her sister, Dianne Smith, and her brother, Rev. Edward Phillips M.M. Their love of each other was undeniable. Donna also leaves behind her many nieces, nephews, and numerous close family friends, especially Irene and Betty Anne. Her Funeral will be from the Lehman Reen & McNamara Funeral Home, 63 Chestnut Hill Ave. (nr Brighton Courthouse), BRIGHTON, on Thursday, May 25th at 10am. Followed by Funeral Mass in St. Ignatius Church, 28 Commonwealth Ave., Chestnut Hill, at 11am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment Massachusetts National Cemetery Bourne at 2pm. Visiting Hours on Wednesday, May 24th from 3-6pm in the funeral home.
