Dorothea had a very pleasant personality and a very warm smile. Moreover she was a very attractive young lady.

Dorothea and I first met when we worked at Kemper Insurance together during the 1980s. She was one of the very few who greeted me during my first day on the job.

Aside from enjoying beachcombing and traveling as noted above, Dorothea also enjoyed collecting postcards, she told me, in which I had sent her two throughout the four years we knew each other. The first postcard was from a training class in Mundelein Illinois and the second postcard was from a family vacation in Newport Beach California. Moreover I presented Dorothea with a Valentine Day's card during 1980 in which she was very appreciative, as she was about the postcards, and said "I will keep this card even if I am 95". The aforementioned are memorable moments worth sharing!

Perhaps the post cards and Valentine Day's card were found among her personal belongings.

It is also worth noting that Dorothea was a very kind and compassionate person as evidenced by the understanding, patience, and sensitivity she had towards me when she cannot reciprocate the affection and admiration I had for her.

With that said I recognize and will always appreciate Dorothea's wonderfulness!

Sorry it took so long for me to get these words out!

I was blessed to gain a sister when we became acquainted as adults. Dottie's beautiful smile and warm personality lit up a room and her son Anthony was the light of her life. How proud she was as she watched him grow into a fine man. Gone much too soon, Dottie did her job as a mother and will always be remembered for her loving and devoted spirit. We are here for you always, Anthony.

Because of the geographical distance between us I didn't see Dottie often but was always struck by what a warm and loving individual she was when we were together. She always made me feel like family. I am so deeply sorry for your loss Anthony and Chris. Please know that my prayers are with you and your family. Lise Lapointe-Murer (Gordon)
