DOROTHY S. "DOT" GIBSON

GIBSON, Dorothy S. "Dot" (Simmons) Passed away on July 16, 2017 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital, after a long illness. She was most recently a resident of Sunrise Senior Living, Wayland, MA, but was proud to call Arlington home, as she lived in the town for almost fifty years. Wife of the late Clifford Gibson, she is survived by her daughter Carol Marrochello, grandsons Andrew (Monica), and Matthew, and her great grandchildren Cody, Olivia, Grace, Dominic, Sophia and Nicole. She is also survived by her sister Henrietta and her brother-in-law Marshall, and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Nashville, TN, she lived in North Carolina before moving to Arlington, MA in 1969, where she was a well-known and beloved member of the community. Dorothy was a member of the Arlington Garden Club and worked for the Town of Arlington in various administrative capacities. She was also a member of the Park Avenue Congregational Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Women's Guild. She was devoted to her family, friends, crossword puzzles, baking and cooking, and was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Patriots and the Spy Ponders. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Jimmy Fund (Jimmyfund.org), or Arlington Youth Baseball (AYBSA PO Box 246, Arlington, MA 02476). A memorial service will be held at the Park Avenue Congregational Church, 50 Paul Revere Road in Arlington, on Saturday, August 5, at 1:00 pm.
