EDWARD ANDERSON Obituary

ANDERSON, Edward A. Age 79, of Hull, MA, formerly of Dorchester and Readville, MA, April 3. Beloved son of the late Norman and Ruth Anderson. Devoted husband of Diane (Ferland). Loving father of Denise and Jason Permatteo and children Mireille and Andrew of Leominster, Jill and Chris Miller and son Arthur of Quincy, and Erik Anderson of Quincy. Loving brother of Elizabeth and Bill Hurley of Braintree and Bill and Renee of South Carolina. Loving uncle of Alison and John McDonough and children Eamon and Mary Elizabeth of Foxboro and nephew, the late Matthew Hurley. Also survived by several other nieces and nephews. Ed spent several decades working in the magazine business, most recently at Boston Magazine. An avid runner, he could be seen running Nantasket Beach several times a week up until recently. Eddie loves nothing more than a round of golf, Frank Sinatra, a good book, and a cold beer. But mostly he loved his family and many, many friends. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. Please visit www.dolanfuneral.com to share a condolence with the Anderson family.

Nancy Berube

July 14, 2020

Opps!!! It is Nancy Berube again. What made me think of Eddie today, completely out of the blue? His birthday is not a few days away from my husband's (7/11)......it was a few days away from mine (3/17)! It suddenly came to me. Eddie's birthday is, or now, was.....3/14. I am glad that I mistakenly thought it was today so I would find out about him sooner, rather than later. Again, my sincere condolences to you, Diane, your kids and their spouses and your grandchildren.

Oh, Eddie.....I am too late. I just thought about you now because I remembered it's your birthday today. I grabbed my address book to call you. Oddly enough, I found Richie and Elaine before I found you. Suddenly, it occurred to me that I should be sure you are still "here", so I typed in your name. I feel so sad seeing your smiling face knowing that I cannot call you now. I am so sorry, kids (grownups, now!) for your loss. In case my name does not ring a bell, I was married to one of his close friends, Roland Berube. I am so glad that I got to talk to Eddie a few years ago, after my husband and I stopped at your house. Your Dad was out golfing (of course) so we visited with your Mom for a bit. He called me later and we had a great time talking and reminiscing. I hope that Diane is okay. I tried looking her up, but did not find anything. Your Dad was one of a kind and will always be with you. "To live in the hearts of those we love is not to die". This is inscribed on my Mother's headstone. Take care of yourselves and each other. My sincere condolences.

I am so sorry for your loss. I met Ed a few years ago when he was kind enough to help me figure out newsstand sales for our magazine (which we had launched with no experience in the business end of publishing). He knew so much, could tell such entertaining stories and exuded such an interesting blend of toughness and kindness. I looked forward to our quarterly phone calls when a new issue was coming out. He was one of my favorite people, even though I knew him for such a short time and only met him in person once. My thoughts are with you.

Ed was always a fun person. When he spoke to you he was animated, curious and engaged in the topic of conversation. He was sincerely interested in hearing all about what you were doing, where you traveled, and what sport you were playing. He could talk about a variety of subjects and was always open to learning more about them. He surrounded himself with books. A big loss to his family and circle of friends.
Sincerest condolences to the family. He will be missed.

Ed you are special and a unique friend in so many ways.
You taught me a great deal about life and helped me grow as a person.
Every time we got together I smiled as soon as I saw you because I knew we would be laughing and having fun.
Elaine and I love you and are sincere condolences
to Denise, Jill, and Eric.
