BURNS, Edward P., Sr. Of Arlington, February 9. Beloved husband of Edith B. Betty (Bergstrom) Burns. Devoted father of Ed Jr., of CA, Carl and wife Joan of Reading, Gary and wife Laurie of Seattle, WA, Betty Ann Britton and husband Jay of Ashland, Brian of Easton, Marybeth Roche and husband Fred of Reading, Arline Peduto and husband Ed of Wakefield. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Brother of the late George and Albert Burns and Catherine McNamara. Funeral from the DeVito Funeral Home, 1145 Mass Avenue, ARLINGTON, Thursday morning at 9, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 in St. Eulalia Church, Winchester. Committal service to follow Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visiting hours in the DeVito Funeral Home, Wednesday 1 to 8pm. Late WW II Marine Veteran, Retired Arlington High School Teacher, Athletic Director, Hockey Coach for 50 years, and Football Coach for 21 years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ed's memory to: The Arlington High School Hockey Club, 60 Epping St., Arlington, MA, 02474, Attention Richard Greco. I know my husband, Gerard Cronin Sr. was one of the first to embrace Ed as he entered through the gates of heaven.

The Burns family,

Eddie Burns was not only a great husband, father and coach, but an outstanding educator. He could have coached a third season, but chose to work on getting his football and hockey players into college. I enjoyed working with him during my time at the Waltham News-Tribine and the Globe.
