Catherine Laster, age 80, of Gulfport, Mississippi, peacefully passed away on October 13, 2025.
Born on August 8, 1945, in Alabama, Catherine lived a life rooted in love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
She was a cherished mother to one son, Patrick Parnell; four daughters, Pamela Parnell Bland, Martha Parnell, Phillis Hutton and Essie Mae Hutton; a proud grandmother to eleven grandchildren, Marie Parnell, Johnny Parnell, Johnthan Parnell, Tiffany Parnell, Christina Hutton-Hinton, Cyntriska M. Smith, Devario D. Hutton, Antonio Parnell, Tashima Robinson, Sammy L. Robinson and Joshua Robinson; and a beloved sister to four sisters, Rosalee, Julia, Ora Lee and Ann; a special family friend, Chantilly Lewis Hubbard; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Catherine’s warmth and compassion extended far beyond her immediate family—she was a special friend to many and held a deep, enduring bond with a host of relatives and lifelong friends.
Catherine had a gift for making others feel valued and at home. Her love was constant, her presence comforting, and her laughter contagious. She loved her family and friends dearly and showed it in countless ways, both big and small. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
She will be missed greatly.
