EDWARD GROIPEN

GROIPEN, Edward Of Newton, a retired footwear industry executive, died peacefully April 26, 2016 surrounded by loved ones. He was 91. Born and raised in Everett, attended Everett public schools. He served as a Staff Sargent in the 5th Air Force in the pacific during World War II. Graduated Suffolk University. Mr. Groipen was an independent representative for many companies both regional and international. He was past president of the Boston Shoe Travelers Association, member of the National Shoe Travelers Association, Two-Ten Association, Jewish War Veterans - Post 211, Garden City Lodge of the Masons, and a 55 year member of Temple Emanuel of Newton. Beloved husband for 67 years of Elaine. Devoted father of Beth Melnick of West Hartford, CT, Paul and his partner Todd Satterlee of Chestnut Hill, Larry and his wife Lori of Swampscott, cherished grandfather of Julie & Justin, Jennifer & Nick, Jamie & Ben and Allie and great grandson AJ and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He leaves his loving sister Doris Horlink of Newton. Services will be held at Temple Sinai, 25 Canton St., Sharon, on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 11:00 am. Following interment at Sharon Memorial Park, memorial observance will be at the residence of Paul Groipen until 8:00 pm.
