Dear Brian, Tim and family;Your dad was very kind to me when I was a student at BC, taking me to his radio show, visiting with me in his office, always taking time to make me feel special because of his love for my mother, his cousin, Anne Dawson Connelly. He has stayed in touch with me regularly since my mother passed away, once again demonstrating his kindness and consideration for others. I feel blessed to have had your dad as a part of my life. We will keep all of you in our prayers.

Dear Tim and family, We were very saddened to hear about the death of your dad. He was a wonderful caring human being. He made tough choices and always did what he thought was right - regardless of politics. We have a lot of nice memories of the old "Winthrop Youth Hockey" days. I had the pleasure of interviewing Mr. King when I was a 5th grader in the Wayland Public School Systems. I remember him taking the time to answer my long winded questions and being a true gentleman. He will be missed.

To the King Family,
All of my heart felt condolences to your family during this time of grief. You can take solace knowing what a great man Mr Edward J King was in so many ways . The lives he touched and the impact he has had on me. I will forever cherish the memories of dinner at Hawthorne's by the Sea with Tim and his family and tossing the football around for some campaign flyers. Govenor King's passing only makes me realize how much better he has left us all.

I had the extreme pleasure of meeting Mr.King when I was a young man through a mutual family friend,at the time he was the director of the Mass.Port Authority.I still remember thinking as I spoke with him,sitting behind his desk on Atlantic Ave.how he was able to make me feel so at ease.By the time I`d left his office I felt like I had known him all my life.I also developed a deep respect for the man.I went on to work at the Boston fish pier for the port authority where he would visit quite often to say hello.Let me tell you,that was always an event when the "GOV" showed up!It always saddens me when we lose a great leader in many ways,as Mr.King was.We will always keep Edward,his family,and his friends in our thoughts and prayers.Stay Strong and God Bless.

I have been a Massachusetts resident for my entire life. Back in the 80's, my admiration for Governor King was the reason I switched from a Republican to an Independent, just so I could vote for him. I saw Governor King on a couple of occasions in the City of Haverhill, where I grew up. I admired his dedication, ability and love for the State of Massachusetts. The State is better because he lived and served as its Governor.

Deepest Sympathies from Ed's old friend from our CYO days in E. Boston. I had not seen Ed for years, but when he came out to Longmeadow on a campaign stop he picked me out of the crowd and asked "what the heck are you doing out here?" Then he introduced me around as his old Battery mate.

My condolences to you on the passing of The Governor. He left a proud legacy as a businessman, politician, and most importantly as a family man.
I will never forget the rides we got in his limo to school-he would get out and greet all the parents and students. He would have us call home on the car phone to get permission to ride in his car-we couldn't imagine at the time how that phone could possibly work in the car!
His letters of reccomendation he wrote to BC on behalf of my sisters and I were something he didn't have to take the time or effort to do, but he did because that's just who he was.
He is in a better place reunited with your mother. May we all have the fortune of leaving such a wonderful legacy.

My mother Gigi was especially fond of her cousin Ed King. She loved to recount stories of summers spent with her cousins Mary,Paul,Eddy and Helen at Rogan's Point. Gigi was a dedicated and proud supporter of Ed during his campaign for governor. As a kid in the neighborhood, I was proud to be your Dad's paper boy. I often tell people I had the first state police escort when we picked up donuts for the reporters on the day he won the Govenor's Race. I deeply respected him for taking tough stands, and for always remembering where he came from. He will be missed.

Dear Tim, Mary and King Family:
I was saddened to hear that your father has left this life. He was definitely one of the good guys. He had the courage of his convictions and was never afraid to take a stand. He was kind and thoughtful, a good neighbor, a good man. He had the courage of his convictions and did not hesitate to take a stand. In short, he was one of a kind and unique in many ways.
I will always remember him running on the beach every morning with the State Police standing guard. My mother, "Auntie" always considered it part of her morning to greet the Governor, who always responded with a genuine smile and a wave.
I can only imagine he is reunited with your mother and is happy where he is now. I know they must be very proud of you and all you have accomplished.
I miss seeing you around, Tim, and hope you are happy in your new home. My dad sends his love and heart-felt condolences.

Joanne and I extend our deepest sympathies to the entire King family. Governor King was a good friend and an effective chief executive. His "can do" attitude made a difference in the lives of the people of Massachusetts and in our state's economy. The "Massachusetts Miracle" of the 1980's was due, in large part, to the foundation prepared by the Governor King and his administration. He was a man of great integrity, honor, and faith who made a positive contribution to Massachusetts and is fondly remembered by his friends and colleagues in public service.

Although we lived out of state Ed had a positive and everlasting influence on the Connelly family. He was particularly loved by his dearest cousin Anne who predeceased
him. Her daughter Mary will always remember his kindness to her when she was a student at Boston College

During my time working for Gov. King,as a staff person in the Appointments Office, and also working on both his campaigns,I had the opportunity to meet his family, friends and many wonderful supporters. Some of these great people formed friendships which continue today. We shared the highs and lows together and these experiences gave myself and many others new perspectives on life. Governor King was a humble gentleman and a very thoughtful man. I feel a sadness and loss for someone I am proud to say I worked for and admired.
