It is a testament to Ed’s life that I even hear of this tragic news. As a mere acquaintance who met Ed and Helene in the hills of West Virginia on a mission project nearly 7 years ago, they invited me to Boston at the conclusion of the program. Of course, after a week of their stories and conversation, I accepted. Ed picked me from the airport, took me around, took me to dinner, and made a trying attempt for me to attend a playoff Sox game. I was a 16 year old nobody! All of this and more was because of Ed.

So, it was only natural that on my second visit to Boston, today, that I Google the Lappens for contact. It is unfortunate that I find this news, but I remember Ed like it was yesterday. Thanks for the memories Ed and the fantastic crew in Cohassett!

I am very saddened to hear of Ed's passing.... He was one of my earliest friends (in Mattapan) and lived on the next street from me in Randolph.... We were in school, temple and in Boy Scouts together. My deepest condolences and prayers to the Lappen family..... Dave Lipof

Please accept our deepest condolences at Ed's tragic passing. Adrian was with us in Shanghai when we got Jacki's call and it was obvious how much he loved his uncle. Sincerely, Patty and Patrick Winpenny

Helene, Ross & Mia,
Ed, a beautiful human being had a beautiful life and loved his family and life so very much. He was successful in many aspects of his life; how very blessed he was and all of you! I am sure he is still in good hands as difficult as it final here on earth. I heard the possibility of the news and , went to the internet. I called our friend Gloria as she was screeching, not our Eddie..no! I was asked to please hurry over to drive both Gloria and Rose to the hospital to be with Helene, they believed everyone was being treated in VT and afraid she'd be alone. I ran out the door, the radio in my vehicle was left on to a station which is quite inspriing and I heard these words immediately after learning of your husband's and Dad's death.. "And you were presented to heaven amongst thunderous applause." How amazing and I believe how true. Wishing you peace.

Dear Helene, Ross, Mia and all of Ed's family and friends,

I am very sorry to learn of Ed's passing. I always remember seeing Ed at Mia's Field Hockey and Girls Lacrosse Games at CHS that I videotaped as well as the 2006 Senior Prom Pre Prom Red Carpet Gala that I also videotaped. Ed was a friendly, loyal and amazing person who always served the Town Of Cohasset in various capacities. I always remember Ed as part owner and CEO of Lappens Discount Auto Parts for many years and the slogan heard on TV and radio commercials "It Happens at Lappens" Please accept my sincere condolences and sympathies. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. God Bless You all

Joe/Shirley

It is with great sadness that I am writing this note. My sister, Laurie, and I attended the service today. Sadly I never had many opportunities in spending time with the Lappen family in Boston. After witnessing and being part of this moving service, I feel deprived that I never got to spend more time with Eddie. Apparently an amazing human being.

Also my sister and I wanted to attend because we know how much our father, Sey, would want to be there in support of the Boston Lappen family. Whle my mother could not attend, please know that she was their in spirit.

my best
