EDWARD LEYDON Obituary

LEYDON, Edward James Suddenly, May 9, 2023. Beloved son of the late Edward J. and Mary A. (O'Gara) Leydon. Loving brother of Charlene M. Leydon of Arlington, and Maureen (Leydon) and her husband, Kenneth Jenkins of Wakefield. Much loved uncle of Peter and John Jenkins of Wakefield. Preceded in death by his brother, Joseph J. of Somerville. Cherished nephew of many aunts and uncles. Ted, as he was known by family and friends, was a graduate of Somerville High School. He was an avid long-distance runner and completed the Boston Marathon in his youth. Ted worked various jobs in his life from cruise ships to bookstores, but wherever he worked he made many friends along the way. Ted's charm, wit, and generous nature will be missed by all. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Ann's Church, 399 Medford Street, Somerville, on June 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Massachusetts Association for The Blind & Visually Impaired, 200 Ivy Street, Brookline, MA 02446, www.mabvi.org/donate/

I met Eddie when he was 23 and working at WGBH. His depth and soul touched me to my core. I will always be grateful for the tenderness and love we shared. He was perhaps the most authentic person I have ever known, infusing the world around him with his kindness and generous spirit. My only hope is that he is now in peace, and you find comfort in his blessed memory.

He was a true gentle soul. Anyone who met Eddie immediately sat his kind disposition and quick smile. The world lost a little light when Eddie went to his rightful spot in heaven.

I remember Eddie fondly from the old neighborhood back on Heath Street in Somerville. He was a great guy, so it was very sad to hear of his disappearance and subsequent passing. I pray for peace and joy that surpasses all understanding to his family as you navigate this difficult season of mourning his passing.
