MULDOON, Edward "Ed" C. Age 77, of Brewster, MA, passed away suddenly in his home, from a medical emergency, on Sunday, January 5, 2025.
He was the only child born to Mary B. and Joseph E. Muldoon of South Weymouth, MA, where he grew up surrounded by many cousins and enjoyed playing tennis at the Stella Tirrell Park. He attended high school at Sacred Heart, where he was known by his classmates as a kind and ambitious boy.
After high school, Ed attended Stonehill College in Easton, MA. Stonehill is where he met the love of his life, Patricia A. (McBreen) Muldoon, whom he married shortly after graduation. In their early years of marriage, Ed and Pat lived in Cambridge, while Pat pursued her career at the hospitals of Boston. Eventually, the couple moved to Cape Cod, where they started a family. Edward and Patricia settled in Brewster near Long Pond and enjoyed boating and the beach together for over 45 years in their neighborhood. Only leaving for slight respites to warm places such as Hawaii and St. Marteen.
In his career, Ed worked in insurance and financial planning for over 45 years with MetLife. This path allotted him one of his most endearing qualities, storytelling. Ed could hold a conversation with anyone, he very much enjoyed hearing about others and sharing his life stories and usually a chuckling anecdote. He made many friends in this line of work and in his neighborhood alike. His great sense of humor and big laugh would brighten anyone's day.
Ed is survived by his loving wife, Patricia. He is also survived by his son, Daniel E. Muldoon of Brewster, MA and John A. Muldoon, his wife, Katherine (Duff) Muldoon and their children, Charlie and Andrew of Brewster, MA.
In his later years, Ed enjoyed watching his grandsons' sports games at the hockey rinks and ball fields of Cape Cod and beyond. He often recalled helping to coach hockey and little league for his sons and how he helped to clear the trees for new ball fields at Freemans Way when they were young. He spent many summer afternoons patiently teaching his sons to waterski, obliging to requests for "One more run, Dad!" after countless hours at the helm. He reveled in watching his grandsons do the same, while holding court on the beach with all his neighbors, often deciding where the next Tuesday morning "men of Brewster Heights" breakfast would be. He looked forward to these times with his friends and weekends with his family. Ed will be greatly missed by his friends, neighbors and family alike.
