Edward ROCHE Obituary

ROCHE, Edward Charles "Ed" Age 92, of Brockton, passed away, on May 26, 2025, after a brief illness. He was born in Boston on April 28, 1933, the youngest of five children to Mary (Muise) Roche and Joseph Paul Roche, originally of Nova Scotia, Canada. He attended Boston public schools, Boston Technical High School and earned his B.S. Ed from Boston Teacher's College, and later his M.S. Ed from Bridgewater State College and continued his studies at Boston University. He taught in elementary schools in Boston and Stoughton until his retirement in 1995.

Ed served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958 in Germany with the Second Armored Cavalry Regiment as a radio repair technician and with the Third Armored Cavalry Regiment as clarinet player in the band.

Ed was married to Joanne (Lomasney) Roche from 1955 until her death in 2014. He is survived by their children, Edward C. Roche, Jr. and Laura White, Anne Andrea and Daniel Andrea, Joseph Paul Roche and Pamela DiFiore, and Donna Bisson Roche; grandchildren, Belynda Flynn and Tony Flynn, Stephen Roche, Robert Andrea and Timothy Andrea and Jenna Van Zile; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Ed was predeceased by his parents, as well as his siblings and their spouses: Paul and Helen Murray, John and Edna Crowley, Joseph and Eleanor Roche, and John and Mildred Levreault and cousins and lifelong friends, Bob Muise and Frank Muise.

Ed enjoyed monthly lunches with relatives and former co-workers, concerts with the Brockton Symphony Orchestra and pursued a number of interests, including oil painting. He enjoyed a long retirement, thanks in part to his work with the Stoughton and Massachusetts Teachers Association. He was a member of the Canton Art Association and Artist's Circle. In his later years as his eyesight failed, he was delighted with audio books and grateful to the wonderful support from the Perkins Library for the Blind.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Brockton Public Library Foundation (brocktonpubliclibrary.org/230/Brockton-Library-Foundation) or the Brockton Symphony Orchestra (brocktonsymphony.org/support.php) or the charity of your choice.

Friends and family are cordially invited to a visitation on Friday, May 30, from 3-7pm, at Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, BROCKTON. Burial will follow at a later date. For directions and online condolences, please visit: www.ConleyFuneralHome.com
