Dear Mrs. Zambara,
I doubt you will remember my struggles with the piano in taking my two years of required lessons at UT, but I remember them and your kindness. Your husband was a father-figure to me since mine had died only three years before my meeting Ed and I remember with great fondness and joy the 5 years of study with him for my B.Mus. and M.Mus.
Ed's vocal knowledge and personal interest in his students was amazing and unmatched by any other professor that I had. Perhaps I'll get to see him once again, as I intend to audition for a place in the bass-baritone section of the Heavenly Choir at the appropriate time, if he'll make room for me. I regret that I did not know of this site until today.
Thanks for the memories!

To Mr. Zambara’s family,
There's nothing I can add to the stature of your husband and father. It's rare to find even a few men of such character, warmth, passion, skill, and greatness all combined. He was in all these things an example to us all. Your father will always be missed, but he will also always be loved by all of us who knew him,…and in that testament alone, his was a life well lived, and we are all the better for it. Please find strength in your memories and the love he had for you. Without doubt, they are many and dear, and his love for you always faithful and deep.
Sincerely,
Anthony Young

Dear Mrs. Zambara,
I just found out today online of Mr. Zambara's passing. Many have said he was such an influence and an inspiration -- oh how very true. In my years studying with him privately in Boston and NYC and at NEC, he was always so supportive, encouraging and gave me the gift of great technique which sustains me today and which I gladly pass on to my students. I am so glad I still have all of my old lesson tapes which I will cherish always. What a blessing he was to so many people -- to me and all he touched!
Please know that my prayers and with you and your family during this difficult time. I wish you all the best and God's peace.
Fondly,
Jennifer Thomas

To the Zambara Family - I am so sorry for your loss and that I didn't learn of Mr. Zambara's passing until now. He was the greatest voice teacher I ever knew, and I was blessed to have spent 7 years with him. During that time, I was welcomed into the Zambara home in Knoxville by Mrs. Z, and she always made me feel entirely welcome. I remember singing performances of "The Pirates of Penzance" with Stephanie when she was in high school and I in college, and if you don't think singing with your teacher's daughter is pressure, think again! But Mr. Z. always knew how to support and encourage his students emotionally and musically. His like shall not come this way soon again. My eternal gratitude to him for everything he taught me, and my thoughts and prayers remain with his lovely family. All my love, Keith Owens, Nashville TN

To the family of Ed Zambara:
I worked with Ed in 1991 and 1992 and he gave me so much in that time. I came to Boston a few times, but mostly it was during his years in New York that we worked. He literally saved me from disaster on the way to a concert at Alice Tully Hall. The conductor wanted a tempo that I simply couldn't sing, and I was in a panic. Ed told me first to smile, then relax. He then went on to give me simple little suggestions that carried me through the performance brilliantly and calmly. It was my New York debut, and it was a wonderful success, thanks to Ed. Giving a singer technical help is enough, but he also restored my confidence in myself, and my joy for singing. I shall never forget him. I still use all his warmups for myself and my students.
