I am so sad to learn of Eileen's death. I have thought her so many times over the years.

I always tell people I grew up in the best neighborhood - a neighborhood where there was always someone to play with. So many of my childhood memories are sprinkled with visions of Eileen:

Building forts in the woods, skating on the pond, hide and seek, the Lordan's pool, talent shows and singing contests, Creature Double Feature, walking to the Heights, gum from the canister in the O'Leary's kitchen that was decorated with plates with the family names on them, a blurry photo of Eileen and me at the bottom of a snow tunnel we built in the Blizzard of '78... come home when the church bells ring.

I always wished I would see or talk with Eileen again, but I am so very thankful for the wonderful memories I have growing up with Eileen, who was a true friend.

I remember one of her favorite songs was Let there be peace on earth. I hope Eileen is at peace, and that she made it home before the Church bells rang.
