Having lunch today with a couple of " ex-Paiersites"..Beth's name came up in conversation about a long ago Paier alumni show that we had both exhibited in. This is when I found out about Beth's passing, Looking at some of the photo's posted returned memories of her focus while she painted, and above all - her smile.
. My belated condolences to her spouse Kathleen and her extended family.

Dearest Kathy. I can’t believe it’s been nine years since Beth passed. I still have one of her beautiful pictures she painted. It’s actually Peter rabbit. I think of her every time I see the picture. I also always think of you. Love Jennifer Vogler Owens

I am so terribly saddened to read of Beth's death. I loved her work from the day I first encountered it in her home studio in Glastonbury. Two of her pictures are treasures that came with me when I moved home to the UK from the States. Belatedly but always, my heart reaches out to you, Kathi, from so far away.

My deepest condolences to Beth's partner/family. Her artwork touched so many people so deeply. My family is lucky enough to own a painting and some prints. Her artwork is so personal yet so universal at the same time. I was lucky to have spoken with her a few times and she made every conversation so warm. Her beautiful spirit lives on through her amazing artwork. Thank you for sharing...God bless and peace to you.

I was lucky to have met her in Wells over 3 yrs ago after being diagnosed with breast cancer myself. I would visit her at the studio every July while vacationing in Wells. Our first meeting was in Wells where she was painting outdoors and I was privileged that she asked I take a picture of her while working. She was a warm and loving person and I will remember her for the rest of my life.Deepest sympathy to Kathleen Humpage as she always spoke so highly of you. I am sorry but I just found out about her passing. The photo was taken in July 2011

Like several others, I have just learned of Beth death. I had no Idea she had relapsed. Beth was a great inspiration to me when I visited and met her in the former gallery location in Perkins Cove. She encouraged me to read "The Artist Way" which changed her life. She again encouraged me and inspired me when I took a workshop with her soon after completing her course of chemo some 5 yrs ago. She told us she was uncertain if she could do it, but really wanted too. At the end of the workshop, she was so thrilled to be able to reach this goal but stated that she was only able to do it because of the love and support of her beloved Kathleen. We were all joyous for her. Like so many, I will miss her when I visit Ogunquit.

We were both shocked and saddened to pick up a newspaper last week-end and read that Beth had passed away in December. We always stopped by her studio in Ogunquit and chatted with her when she was there and have the pleasure of looking at "the Gatherers" in our family room in Wells. It reminded us of our grandkids when we first saw it ! We had several really good conversations after her first bout with cancer and she was excited and planning her trip to Tuscany and was feeling so much better. We stopped in again when she returned and we were so happy to know that she got to go and loved every minute of it.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who knew her and loved her. What a huge loss both to the art world and her friends and family !
She will be missed.

I am so sorry to just be seeing this. Perhaps others planning their yearly voyage to Maine will have the same sad response. Beth had crayons for the kids and encouraged them - how great of artists they would be! I wonder if she knew the effect that had on their confidence and joy. She will be missed and my condolences her family and close friends.

I am sad to find this out at such a late date, Beth and I met at Paier and attended classes together. We became friends and worked together on a project for the school service dept. at the Peabody Museum in New Haven CT. It was a flannel board art work showing a wildlife scene. We had so much fun doing it, I will never forget it. And all the other good times we had, my Mom loved when Beth came over, said she looked just like her cousin.
Beth,I will miss saying hello to you after so many years gone by but you will hear my hellos and thoughts through our art work! Love You!

I'm so sorry to here this. After 20 plus summers in Ogunquit and Beth's accepting a leadership role in Ogunquit. She will be missed greatly. What pride for her family and friends to know how much she accomplished in her years at Perkins Cove. She inspired and helped other artists and families while pursuing her art..

I had the opportunity to meet with Beth a few years ago when my partner Ken and I moved into Beth old art studio in Perkins Cove, Ogunquit. On many occasion I can recall Beth walking by our new home with a smile, she was pleased that we had brought back here space to life. On many occasion we would call her up and invite her up to enjoy a bit to eat. She always came up for a few minutes and we enjoyed our conversation reminiscing about the cove that she truly loved.. I can say that she was one of the most sincere and gentle person that i have ever encountered. For those that did have a chance to personnel meet her she was more than an amazing artist. He warm personality and love has truly left a void in our hearts. The joy and talent of the work that she created was absolutely a gift. I was always excited to see her walk around the cove during the summer. Beth will remained in our heart and mind. Her spirit with live forever in the beautiful work that she created the way she touch our heart. You will be missed my friend!! Rest in peace.

I want to express my sincerest sympathy on Beth's passing. The years I worked for Beth at your home and at her House Street apartment are cherished memories. We had not seen much of each other since her work took her in a different direction, but I will miss knowing that I might run into her around town. It was with great sadness this morning that I learned of Beth's passing. I have had the pleasure and honor of brief meetings, thoughtful handwritten notes, and meaningful phone conversations with Beth over the past 8 years or so. This summer my wife and I met with Beth in her studio in Perkins Cove and we commented after about her warm eyes, her thoughtful and calming presence. As we were saying goodbye, I awkwardly said "I'm not much of a hugger, but I know I will regret it if I don't give you a hug." So glad I did. I will remember her patience, her interest, her kind comments, the generous time she would spend on the phone discussing the paintings I purchased, the time she would not let me take possession of the Nubble Light painting until she took it back to her studio and adjusted the red on one of the outbuildings -- it wasn't quite right and it had been nagging at her. Beth was always so genuinely pleased and honored when my wife and I purchased one of her paintings -- but we are the ones blessed to own more than a dozen of her special works in oil. I will miss her, I will miss the excitement every summer of seeing her new masterpieces, the thrill of a new purchase, and the warmth in her voice. I miss her already.
