Eric Winslow Wodlinger

WODLINGER, Eric Winslow 62 died Monday, October 10 at his Cambridge home after a valiant struggle with brain cancer. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Hilary, his beloved children, Nicola and David, his brother Paul of Seattle and his mother Gerda of San Francisco. Eric graduated from Amherst College in 1970 and from Harvard Law School in 1973. He practiced law and was a partner at Choate Hall & Stewart until 2007 at which time he moved to Rackemann, Sawyer & Brewster. He specialized in land use and eminent domain issues. He served as general counsel to the Cape Cod Commission and the Martha's Vineyard Commission and as special counsel on land use matters for a number of cities and towns in eastern Massachusetts. When not practicing law, Eric could most likely be found on the tennis court - at the Cambridge Tennis Club during the summer months and at the Badminton and Tennis Club in Boston during the winter. An avid tennis enthusiast and supporter he served on the board and as the Clerk of Vineyard Youth Tennis. Eric's interests and intellect were broad and wide ranging, including an extensive love and knowledge of history, art, travel, food and wine, opera and most recently the Tottenham Hotspurs Soccer Club. Combining his love of music with his legal acumen, Eric previously served as president of the board of the Community Music Center of Boston, during which time he was instrumental in helping the CMCB secure their present home on Warren Street in the South End. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 5 at 3 PM in the Story Chapel at Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
