We are deeply saddened with the loss of Gene. He was a special friend for 30 + years whom we loved and will forever remember as one of our favorite people in our lives, gone in body, but not in spirit...we will never forget him.

Dear Sharon, Nicole and Eric as well as the entire Derba family, Please accept our deepest sympathy in the loss of Gene. He was a great guy and always there in the stands or field following Nicole during high school years. He was the "go to guy" who had all the information on Fontbonne sports. Mr Derba was a fantastic man. It was so obvious how much he loved and cared for Nicole. It was great seeing him in the stands almost every game cheering her teams on. It was a privledge to have met and spent time with such an amazing man. He will never be forgotten.

Gene,
You were at first our neighbor who later became our good friend. We have been blessed to have known you for over 20 years and will always cherish those early memories of Thomas Drive and the times we shared raising our young children. Through the years, our families have remained close and we are proud to call you our dear, dear friend. We will miss you.

Uncle Gene was a fantastic father and uncle - and a wonderful role model for his children, nieces, and nephews. He was an extremely loving, likeable, and family-oriented man whose strong and selfless nature burns brightly in Eric and Nicole. I hope the entire Derba family finds peace in all the memories, laughs, photos, and personal artifacts you'll uncover during this difficult time.
