EUNICE PUZZO Obituary

PUZZO, Eunice Evelyn Died on February 17, 2024, at the age of 97, after a full life of nursing, family and genealogy. Eunice E. Johnson was born in Woodhull, Illinois on November 15, 1926, to Hugo and Louise Johnson. The middle of three children, she forged her own path that led her from rural Illinois to Bedford, Massachusetts and then to Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Eunice worked in two factories during high school before becoming a cadet nurse, as part of the war effort. After graduating from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL as a registered nurse, she worked at Cook County hospital before heading east to Boston's Peter Bent Brigham Hospital. In a time when most women did not go to college, Eunice got her Master's Degree and worked there as a nurse administrator. In 1962, she married Albert Puzzo and transitioned to maintaining a household and raising two sons, David and Larry. Following Al's death, with best friend Estelle McFarland's help, Eunice became active in genealogy, assiduously tracing her and her husband's family trees. Her life journey then took her to Murfreesboro to be near her son, Larry and granddaughters, Katie Lou and Noah. She spent her final years at AdamsPlace retirement home, where she was well-respected by residents and staff alike. After a long and happy life, Eunice will be interred with her husband at Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bedford Historical Society or The Bedford Minutemen Company . Visiting Hours: Saturday, August 3, at 10:30 am, Shawsheen Cemetery.
